Happy Boating :-)
Chatting with a couple of other grandpas on the weekend and we joked that the first thing we always talk about is weather. Then, voila, your video is the first thing I see when I logged in today. Weather certainly has changed everywhere! Gotta love the covered slip!
Yes it has!
And hold that last thought 🤐
That was actually a quite beautiful the relationship between the intense storm the calm dry of being under cover and the warm light coming from the cockpit and cabin very comforting.
Thanks for the post
Yes, a covered slip has its advantages, as well as some drawbacks.
We finally had some light rain here in Ohio on Sunday morning. It was not very much but we are so dry after a very wet spring that we needed the rain....and more!
We've been getting rain, rain and more rain. So much so that the lake level hasn't even dropped yet - normally would have seen a drop of 5 or 6" by this time . . .
It just looked so cozy in the boat during that storm. Minus that tornado watch that is. 😂
Cozy enough, considering that nothing blew away in those winds 😅
That was quite the storm. We had a tornado warning in Stayner. Glad nothing happened.😊
Ya, both a tornado watch alert during this one 🌩️🌪️🌩️ Happily, no damage reported close by, apart from a few tree limbs knocked down.
We were tied up at Swift Rapids when that came through..... Bow into it thankfully.
I'm looking forward to your video from that adventure!
when the covered slip is so nice !
I think I prefer being in an open slip...
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo well cause your in one already !both are nice
Upper midwest got 5 inches in mere 2 hours with up to 60 mph gusts last evening. Some boats got caught up in it so i guess lesson learned to stay tuned to weather and obey all watches and warnings
Indeed!
A few years ago (Chesapeake Bay), we were staying in a covered slip when a storm (tornado watch) came through. It seemed like the wind was funneling through the covered slip area. After the storm was over, we had to clean leaves off of the boat from trees that were several hundred feet away. Kinda scary. Looks like y'all did a lot better.
We were safe and there was no damage, so that's a good thing. That said, it would have been nice if Boogaboo was out in the open to get a thorough rinsing 🫧
Looks like you picked a good spot to move your boat to! Hopefully I’ll get to see you on the water I’m coming that way for a boat trip happy boating
We're still looking forward to getting away for a night or two soon. . .
Hey my friend I hear you I hope to do the same as well but this wether does not want to let us enjoy the little bit of summer it seems
Wow that was a bad storm. Boogaboo wasn't scared though. Lol 😂🤣😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Shrugged it off like it wasn't anything at all ;-)
Benefit of having a covered slip is being out of the rain. They aren’t very popular here in NW Ohio.
Yes, but being in open slips previously allowed for a good boat wash courtesy of Mother Nature 😉
Carwash season on Lake Simcoe...
I mentioned to Anchor Girl that I should just pull our boat ahead to be out in the open for a good wash 😅
could be worse. you could have been out in a bay during that like we were two summers ago. don’t recommend🤭 here’s hoping for some drier days ahead
When I was a (younger) kid, we got hit with similar conditions out on the lake on the houseboat (see my 'Our Old Boats' series for a glimpse of that tank; Our Old Boats: czcams.com/play/PLKhjT5kr2l2HPFsSYgoKENzZJCQg5gCf3.html ). A scary proposition, with rain so hard it was coming through the sliding door frame and whiteout conditions from sideways rain that we came within feet of colliding with another boat that was caught up in the situation! A lady friend of the family was actually on her knees praying that we get through the storm 😳
Alas, once it passed, and the sun came out, I discovered that the potatoes on the built-in BBQ were cooked to perfection - although most of the charcoal brickettes had blown away in a hail of flame and smoke during the height of the storm.
Yup, a scary day on the water, but no injuries or damages, so all good...
hahaha this story makes me laugh even though I’m sure it was quite scary in the moment. the crazy thing is the sound of thunder over the water, magnified. better days ahead for your crew of four I’m sure.
I hope the windows of your car were closed.
Luckily, yes!
