  • How to fix an alignment problem in binoculars after someone has attempted to fix it by messing with the prisms. Look for the tell-tale signs of paint or leather cloth removal from the body of the binoculars. I'm also using my quick collimation method to realign the optics, once I've reduced the error in the prisms.

got a new question, i understand that by rotating we are changing the principal axis of the lens in how it sits in the housing but when you are making the adjustment by unscrewing it you are also changing the distance of the lens from its axis and im wondering will this affect the double vision correction as well? if so then it wont be of help once the lens gets screwed back down into tightened position

you did not use a paper aroun d the lens to mark things this time , wondering how i can do that with mine somehow because i dont think i can really use a paper with how mine is made or i will have to make sure the paper does not turn while im turning the lens

if someone already messed with the prisms why don't you adjust for collimation the same way with the prims screws?

Hi, I do adjust the prisms (see from about 2.05 mins into the video) but the final alignment is more easily achieved using the 'quick collimation' method- this is the reason why the objectives are in eccentric mounts. Thanks for your question and for watching. Best Wishes from Normandie, Andy.

@@Organikmechanic yes but you mentioned you do not like doing that way that is why i asked ,i figured it might be easier to make the adjustment through prism screws rather than the objective lens, i recently noticed my binos are out of collimation because a star i was looking at had double vision and also i noticed in the day time that there were these black specs that suddenly were there now, so i decided to take apart the prisms and the front objective and adjusting lens and given them a good cleaning as well and try to blow out some dust , still did not get them all out so i will take the whole thing apart again and try to reach the eye piece lenses too and just clean everything and make sure all is blown out hoping those black specs are gone, i will then adjust with the objective lens as im sure it will be out of collimation and have double vision, but really im not that fussy if its giving me double vision when looking at stars because it is giving me clear sharp image when looking at terrestrial objects many kms away and seems fine despite the double vision issue so idk why i should even bother?

@@ARCSTREAMS Did you end up fixing these bino's?

@@das250250 i did what i mentioned but i think it was my eyes giving me double vision im not sure but the binos work well on stars ever since so perhaps it was something i did while cleaning them or it was like i said just eye strain or my eyes going bad but i can't remember if i done the adjustment like he shown in the vid
