William Friedkin on Casting and Doing Many Takes

Excerpt from a 2021 masterclass with William Friedkin for the Luxembourg City Film Festival presented by the film critic and historian Phillipe Rouyer.
Friedkin compares his filmmaking process with that of other filmmakers, asserting that he doesn't do a lot of takes. He also talks about casting his actors, and tells the story of casting Roy Scheider for The French Connection (1971).
