Hey mate, Love you channel and really appreciate the local tips you give out. Makes me so grateful about where we live. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that my knowledge of how to keep fish and prepare them is really bad, would you ever consider doing your own style of video of catch-to-plate for us? Would like to see your take on it. Cheers!
Hey Luke I've only recently found yr channel and really appreciate yr great vids, which I will be scrolling through and checking out as many as I can. That 87cm was a stonker mate and after dropping a few like you did, to end up boating a fish like that makes it all worth it. I've had many days were I've dropped that many fish and even worse that you get them up next to the boat for a look only to drop them, that sucks. Love yr channel Luke
Awesome session luke, spewin a few spat the hook but definitely made up for it with the others! 🎣 It was awesome to meet ya today mate and finally see ya on the water to say gday so cheers for that 🤙🏼🍻 (green poly)
Was hectic stinger hook next time. I actually left not long after u moved I was going to give u the bonito for bait but you were gone. Might see you out there again 🤙
Yeahh man definitely might be the go for next round for hookup rates, although catch and release with 2 hooks as ya know can sometimes be abit heartbreaking when the big girls gulp that stinger right down 😓 Ahh bugger thanks for that mate maybe next time! We were just taking the young fellas for a swim anyways so its no dramas legend 🤙🏼
Luke, have you considered running a stinger hook, tied to the top hook, and pinned through the squid down near it’s head? Might help with the hook ups?
I always think about it but never apply it, I think it would improve the hookup most definitely. I will pre rig next time I go for them give it a crack 👍
Hey Luke, I am a young kayak fisherman in Lake Macquarie and I don’t have a sounder, I am finding it hard to find fish do you know any spots on the lake that have flathead ? I launch my kayak at summer land point so anything within paddling distance from there would be perfect. I generally fish with vibes, plastics and occasionally live poddy mullet. If you have any recommendations that would be great, thanks.
Hi mate, anything deeper than 8mtrs I be hitting with vibes. Live mullet drifted on sand should pick up flathead. I prefer the gwandlen side bit cleaner deeper water. Also try fish around any diving birds 👌
@@huntersfishingadventures5324 hey Luke, would you know of any good sand flats to drift for flathead? Also I was thinking of going and fishing the hot water outlet from the power station, is that a good spot?
whenever i would fish with my brother in the boat he would use 2 rods and i would use 1 , he always got more bites than me but he caught less fish , he would miss many good fish as he was stuffing around with the other rod.
@@huntersfishingadventures5324 he had a couple of rods pulled in while he was reeling in a fish on the other one , he lost a $400 shimano baitcaster like that.
@@huntersfishingadventures5324 great channel mate. I’ve just stumbled across it this week. I’m taking the kids to Lake Mac for a weeks fishing next week. Can’t wait!

Get into the double hooked snell rig for the squiddies better hook up rate. Good on ya Dave love your work
Agree much better hookup rate. I just run 1 hook to try avoid damaging the fish. Thankyou as always mate 🤙

I was interested because looked like you might get into the breakers there at beginning 😮
I will try get closer for better TV 😂
Awsome bro, another great vid wish I could catch squid that easy haha

Another great vid. You make it look easy….. Out of interest do you use an aerator to keep your live bait fresh.
No I just change water now and then I'm pretty old school. I may buy one now 😂 thankyou mate
Awesome upload! Sitting here wishing 🤟
Cheers 🍻 so am I now 😂
New gear? U done good as always. Nice 1 m8
That's the setup I won from the comp finally put line on it lol. Cheers mate and happy new years 🤙
@@huntersfishingadventures5324 u to I barely used my set up i won
I use a minimum of two hooks when fishing live squid.

It can be hard drifting that area and holding a good position without drifting into the rocks 🪨.
I use my motor to keep adjusting position once wind kicks up game over
How do you find a good squid spot?
Trial and error unfortunately. Sand and weed patch's, bumpy bottom, headlands all good spots. Generally know in 5 cast if around hope this helps .
whenever i would fish with my brother in the boat he would use 2 rods and i would use 1 , he always got more bites than me but he caught less fish , he would miss many good fish as he was stuffing around with the other rod.
bet was always funny watching him battle the problems of 2 rods! At some stages I find I'm steering boat with foot while juggling rods 😂

You make me nervous watching you fish near the rocks Luke.
I'm glad someone worries 👍 I'm a good swimmer least it's close to shore 😉 see you on the next one mate
That big flatty looked a bit worse for wear 😩
Can only hope she lives, not often it happens when drifting quickly 😥
Didn’t look too healthy the way it was bleeding 😢
I know happens sometimes hopefully she is OK I'm still worried bout her 😥
