How I modified my Suzuki Jimny JB74 Budget Winch to be foolproof!

- After installing the Tmax tmaew 4500lb 12v winch from UV4x4 on my Suzuki Jimny 2021 JB74, I was not happy with the set up at all. Despite it being a budget winch that only cost around $250 AUD I really liked how it fit my build, and how the unit itself operated. So after a little tinkering and planning I wired it through to the dashboard where the winch controller now attaches with a 2m lead! Now I can easily use the winch for the Jimny from inside the cabin or outside without having to spend mega bucks on a wireless system.
What a great way of fixing this problem, much better than factory fitted controls.
Thanks. The idea kinda hit us by the end after deciding to move the control box, we we're already committed to rewiring the whole thing, then figured that we could just extend the terminals from the back of the factory plug. We removed the plug and replaced it with a gromit, and we relised that, that made moving the control box irrelevant. So we put it all back together, filled it with hydrophobic spray to keep the water out, and ran the lead to the dash.
That's a bloody good idea with the push to start button
Yeah, I did have to glue it in, It popped out too easy with the cord connected, so hit it with some super glue and now its one piece of plastic. lol.
Great work again my man!!!
Thanks dude!
Such a great idea 🥰
Thanks!!
Thanks. I didn't know I cared about winches.
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤙🤙
Nice video, i will do the same with my Master Forest 6000 pund winch. I will just add a button to it. Mine got wireless remote, but it will be nice to have a button inside the car.
Thanks mate! Hope it goes well!
Great video! Was wondering what your isolator switch is rated to? My 5,500lb winch has a 280A max draw, and I am looking for an isolator that will work with my winch. Cheers from New Zealand!
👍👍👍
Thankyou! 😍
Nothing worse than owning a Jimny and being in lockdown at the same time.
I know right!
