- After a few weeks in Tokyo, it was time for me to head to Osaka to hang out with Yasu and catch-up on all the happenings over in the Kansai region. There's always something happening out there but I also enjoy Osaka because it feels like a second-home. Life seems almost normal when I'm out there and I've developed a normal routine out there, which is important to me. One of the first big things I had lined-up with Yasu was heading back to Kansai's famed Central Circuit to check-out the Central Time Attack Challenge, a racing event that has become a regular stop for me during my winter and spring visits to Japan. This one is always a good one because I always find something new and unique to look at and this year's was no different. I found a Honda I never thought would be a competitive time attack vehicle and also found some visitors that came from the Kanto region to compete with some of the best in this area...

If I could start my life over, I would follow my childhood dream of being a mechanic amd doing what you do. Everything in this video is amazing, but the little City racer was the crown jewel. I started collecting cameras while designing a 35mm analogue camera at deisgn school and the obcession took over so I went from owning 3 to owning 98. Mainly Olympus. I love your work and content. The closest I get to your world is Gran Turismo 7 and making liveries. Greetings from Copenhagen.

My challenge lies in collecting only 1:18 and 1:12 scale models, which makes it even more difficult to find sufficient space for displaying and storing all the boxes. I suppose this is just part of the collector's life.

i 1000% relate with the diecast model car stuff man! Always been a fan of 1:43s in particular, whether it'd be Ebbro, HPI, Kyosho, Hi-Story, Ignition Model, and the like. One time i tried to find a Hi-Story Starlet GT model since I really liked that car and literally scoured every Surugaya, BIC, or any other Hobby Shop in Tokyo and Osaka and couldn't find it at all. Sometime down the line a friend did find it in a second hand model store in Fuji Speedway, so it all ended up working out haha. The lengths we go to for these things....
That end bit about the collecting getting out of hand is too relatable! I knew I was becoming too interested in starting to collect diecast, and I knew I wouldn't be able to stop myself with just a few. So I decided to go with 1/64 scale. I figured at that size, they'll take up less space, and they'll be far cheaper. And now I'm down the rabbit hole of trying to collect every unique variation of Honda that Hot Wheels has ever made. Integras in each of the different colors out there, EF Civics in all the colors, Preludes, etc... mainlines, premiums, store- and multipack-exclusives, Treasure Hunts... And then of course there are other brands that make Hondas on the same scale, and I'm wanting _some_ of those, too, but Hot Wheels is the only brand under which I'm going after _every_ Honda.
The 1/64 stuff is just a bit too small for me haha but I get it, some of the Ignition model stuff is very detailed.

It's funny you went through the hunt for those. I actually figured it'd be pretty cumbersome these days. I bought Inno 1:64 versions of the Test Car and JACCS before everything started shooting up in price. Something to keep me motivated to finish my real car since I've acquired all the parts for "the look" and to continue saving to build it to dream spec 😅
I love the 1/43 I never see Honda ‘s but the hpi 1/43 are super nice resin models !

I collect 1:43 Porsches and it's a slippery slope. Before that I was buying hot wheels and other 1:64 scale diecast and the level of detail makes me want to throw away every 1:64 scale thing I own.

Im a big siecast collectoe myself. I mainly stick to 1:64 these days due to space and packaging. Inno64 and mini gt make some great honda models including a few NGR civics. Im actually currently selling a bunch of that ebbro superGT 1:43 stuff

Do a lot of these race cars run staggered fitment ? I’m about to buy some spoon wheels but was thinking of doing 8” up front and 6.5” rear
I would say it's about 50/50. Some use front staggered set-ups and some stick with the traditional set-up.

That lip on the Rhytm EF9. Is it an old J's racing lip perhaps? It's by far the best looking lip for EF9s but they're impossible to find it seems.
The ends don’t look like old Js though, I couldn’t figure it out…
