My son just got his braces taken off a few weeks ago. His orthodontist told him he has the cleanest teeth he’s ever seen after getting braces taken off. His teeth were so white you couldn’t tell he ever had braces.
Every adjustment my son had his teeth always hurt the day after but it was only one day. I gave him an Advil and he was fine.
That’s amazing wow! Are there some particular tips yoh followed to ensure his teeth remained white?
@@zeenaadmina4654 he brushed twice a day morning and night. He avoided sugar drinks and mainly drinks water. He used a water flosser(Synhop mini portable water flosser) I purchased from Amazon that had different attachments for braces. I also bought EverSmile orthofoam braces cleaner + gum care, he used that everytime he brushed his teeth. He used a pump of that on top of his toothpaste. Then twice a week he used 3% hydrogen peroxide. The orthodontist said that was okay to use everyday if he wanted.
How did he keep his teeth white?

Spacers, getting them tightened, coil springs, rubber bands, zig zag wires, & power chains is the most painful part about having braces. I hate it so much.

Just a tip for people who have sore lips because of braces.
When I just got my braces the inside of my lips were hurting so much. I would put that brace wax on my braces the first row 4/6 teeth. I would put the complete strip on it. Especially at night, when it was the worst because I would suck my lips against my braces with my mouth.
It's been 6 years since I had braces but I still have that quick thought sometimes when I leave home:
''Oh no I didn't put on my rubber bands'' and then I come to realization again ''Luckily that thing is out''
I just have a trauma from that stupid thing. I had it in for 6 years and my teeth still have gaps and now I have a permanent retainer. But my teeth haven't moved since.

the worst part of having braces is how long you have to floss, and all of the plaque that you don't see, but other than that they're fine :)
A mechanical toothbrush helps get plaque more easily. Ngl, I think I’m gonna keep on using it even once I have my braces off. Btw nice pfp.

To avoid the canker sores, I put cotton wool under my lower lip and below the braces.
When the cotton wool gets soaked, you won't notice it's there.
Works perfectly, especially overnight!
Is there a risk of accidentally swallowing while sleeping?
You can also use braces wax, which can be swallowed as it’s made for braces. You just put it on the bracket or wire where it’s rubbing, and bingo!

I can still trace the line of scarring from both wires on my braces (top and bottom) all the way around from one cheek, along each lip, to the other cheek. The worst of the scarring is at the back, where the wire would poke out of the brackets on the back cheek. They were never cut short enough and I'd get my cheek caught and even ripped open. Wax did nothing but soften, melt.

@@kim.by01 My parent's would always ask what I was doing, fishing around in my mouth with my finger, when I was trying to unhook it, but I couldn't answer them, obviously, until I'd freed my poor, bleeding cheek! It's very sore!
Passion fruit is extremely helpful for healing canker sores! My mom and I will eat them whenever we get canker sores and the sores heal a lot faster. Not long ago, I had a really big and painful one so I ate one passion fruit and the next day it stopped hurting and then healed within a few days.
you heal it. i just put salt on it and do trauma therapy so everytime salt touches it dosent hurt at all.
My brother and sister ended up wearing braces for like six years because they wouldn’t do what the doctor told them. I went to a different doctor and wore my braces for six months because I did everything they wanted me to do. Do the right thing!
I live in Britain, my dentist didn't etch my teeth before glueing those things on my teeth, from the limited time I've watched you since I just found you, I've learnt enough that my dentist was doing it wrong. Didn't even know etching was a thing.
@danielhobson2124 just search up acid etching before braces or smthn like that, it's done so that the glue actually sticks to the teeth, mb I learnt wrong but it would make sense considering.

Wym your dentist didn't etch your teeth? The bracket wouldnt hold onto your tooth, they etch for composite fillings too so the filling doesn't just fallout...

I sometimes miss my braces, lol. I had an open bite that needed correction. I did the whole power chain with rubber bands for 1 1/2 months. I still use my Hawley retainer at night to keep my teeth straight. If you're thinking of getting braces, I recommend always having dental wax. It helps to prevent canker sores.
I had braces 11 years ago and the first thing I ate was Taco Bell bean burrito, couldn’t eat the tortilla, had to fork out the inners 😂

edit: If you're getting braces soon, please realize this is only for the first few days and after you get them tightened!! Braces have helped me so much, especially with my confidence. They have allowed me to feel free to smile!! I wish you fellow braces people a great braces journey!!
My braces journey update: I get my braces off in 2 weeks!! I am so excited my orthodontist has messed my teeth up 4 times now (one time they crossed my front teeth completely over one another and had to flip them back) and has finally fixed them to where I can get them off. I'm hoping it's worth it in the end.....
Update: Braces off tomorrow. Im so nervous because I have very sensitive teeth...tell yall tomorrow how it went cross your fingers 🤞
Final Update: Their Off!!!!!! My teeth feel a million times better. Yes, getting them off was not the most comfortable, but it's all worth it!! I'm finally free to smile without being nervous. And if you need any tips, feel free to comment. Also, thank you for letting me make this my little braces journal, lol. 🫶

5 months later- my teeth are moving a little on the bottom because of my permanent retainer since it doesn’t go all the way back and i was not given a retainer to go over it but the top teeth are fine however just a reminder to WEAR YOUR RETAINER IT WILL HURT A MILLON TIMES WORSE IF YOU DONT AND YOU WILL HAVE BRACES AGAIN
i don’t have braces again but i am very forgetful and forget my retainer a lot so it hurts when i put it back in my biggest piece of advice is treat your teeth like you have braces even after you get them off… it will help your gums and keep you teeth cleaner and whiter as well as your breathe smelling better!! Keep wearing those rubber bands and retainer!! PLEASE KEEP COMMENTING AND HELPING EACH OTHER I LOVE HELPING IN ANY WAY I CAN 🫶🫶🫶

You didn’t talk about the main reason I clicked this video - the discoloration around the brackets area (your thumbnail). I’m currently wearing braces and that’s one of my biggest fears. I don’t want my teeth to be discolored at the end😩😩

Just get hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening strips, use toothpaste that includes hydrogen peroxide, and then use 3% hydrogen peroxide as mouth wash. You’ll brighten and even your teeth whiteness out in no time
I had the old school big full metal bands around each tooth. When I got my retainer, the doctor would tighten it weekly, but one week I noticed bone on the roof of my mouth had become exposed and it hurt like !$@!#!. The doctor had to come in on the weekend to fix the retainer - such a fond memory !

2:20… all I do is stuff my face into cushions. The pressure relieves it. So does swishing cold water, it’s kinda obvious ice cubes are bad.. Also, I got my braces off last month :D My retainers are A LOT better than my braces (thank the lord) 🎉🎉
For canker sores, there’s a prescription product called debacterol. You apply it to the sore, and it burns for a minute but it kills the nerve endings there and the pain goes away!

As someone who has and has had braces... if youre getting them, its really not to bad. Youll jh1st be sore for the first couple days after getting them or getting them tightened.

My top braces were a breeze!!! However, when I got my bottom braces on, I literally couldn’t eat for two weeks because they hurt soooo bad!! But it gets so much better afterwards. I promise that adjustments hurt A LOT less than when you first get your braces on!! You’ll make it through it!!!!! (Floss every night)
I had braces (UK NHS) for about a whopping 40 minutes maybe before having a tantrum (age like 11) about how awful they were. I had them for canines that were coming down too high at first, but in the end they sorted themselves out completely fine without the braces. I do have like 2 slightly crowded teeth that perhaps I wouldn't have if I had kept them on but I don't ever feel insecure or worried about my teeth and definitely wouldn't qualify for them again today.

Once I had a painful wound in my mouth which is caused by braces. I couldn't speak because of the pain. I got hungry, eat a salted bakery food, and the wounds became a lot smaller. After that, I put salt every wound which caused by braces, and it worked every time.
I'm getting braces when and if the insurance company approves because my family can't pay for it alone. Love you Bentist. Bless you ❤️
fun story: a few months ago i had what I assumed was just a regular ulcer on my bottom lip.. it would get bigger, then smaller, and bigger again until it was literally the size of my pinky finger nail. so I went to the oral surgeon thingy (this was my first surgery actually). my mom said they’d freeze it and it would fall off, but he actually pulled it out and it looked like STRING LIGHTS, EEEWWW!!

I’m lucky. I never had braces. But I also ate a lot of raw carrots and sunflower seeds as a kid. Hard food is a favorite of mine, even now that I have bridges.

She was late 20's with really nice, large, comfortable pillows that she would smother me with for about 30 minutes as she would tighten my braces. Every time my teeth felt sore afterwards, I would remember and it would provide positive memories. 🙂

I have braces but I don't have any pain... I get my Damon braces tightened and my teeth are sore for 5 min and then I only have to see the magic happening, I see changes on my mouth everyday! It was predicted I would have braces for 3 years, but maybe it will only be for 1 year and a half to 2 years because it is moving really fast, even my bite corrected a lot without rubber bands. Can't believe I was so scared before getting them! I eat everything (even hard, crunchy things, never broke a bracket), I actually forget I have braces until I have to floss 😂 I'm always like "damn, the hardest part of the day right here" 😅
Of course I know I'm maybe one of the few that don't have pain, but never be discouraged, it will always be worth it in the end!

Ohh, I had that headgear thingy. It was to expand my jaw a little. This was because my wisdom teeth were in a good angle, so they removed one premolar in each quadrant so my back teeth could come towards the front and my wisdom teeth could just be my new back teeth.

I got them off today the glue part when getting them removed was uncomfortable the one where they use that plier type thing where it scrapes the glue off hurts but the air thing when it wasn’t coming off was weird thanks for keeping my smile nice and clean and you made be improve my brushing times
People are over-reacting, Pain level 2 on a scale of 1-10. Tbh, I personally enjoyed that mild pain. The only shit part was Brushing and cleaning overall.

got my braces done last night and woke up in crazy pain this morning It hurts so bad I was practically in tears My teeth are super sensitive now not sure if it's my muscles, gums, or the teeth Touching them is excruciating, can't even figure out where exactly it's hurting Everything was fine after getting the braces, but this morning was a whole different story i just want to get rid of this thing so badly but I can'ttt😭
I was worried braces will kill me since my pain level tolerance was low. It was really annoying at times having it brushed against my cheeks or tongue but hydrogen peroxide mouthwash and dental wax helped a lot. Getting my braces tighten surprisingly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My teeth get sore but it's not painful like the root canal and infected wisdom tooth surgeries I had in the past. Menstrual cramps hurt more.
My family has a lot of kancorsoars and we use salt it make it go in like tow days
