  • A beautiful day in September by the river and a perfect time to record Kim Robertson's arrangement of "Glenlivet"! I love playing this on my big harp, but it sounds just as nice on the little one, too. (Gotta love them flexible Celtic tunes!) What do you think, should I make another recording with my big harp in the future to show off the full bass-y range of this tune?

    Bravo! 👏🏼🥇❤️
I'm not a harpist, but I cheat! I have a fabulous set of harp patches on my digital keyboards. Since I first came across this piece on CZcams a few years ago, I never get tired of hearing it played.
I can understand why you were inspired to learn this piece.
    Keep up the good work🏆
I've played piano and other keyboard instruments since age 5, including the last 50+ years professionally. I'm part of Celtic Evensong music ensemble which performs during a type of traditional evening worship service that goes back perhaps 1000 years; originally from Iona Island off of Scotland.
Many Episcopal and some Catholic churches here have also revived this in recent years.
I arranged this piece as part of a medley I concocted. This was played for transitioning the participants from the end of the most contemplative part of the service towards the enlivening last section towards the end.
Using my keyboard harp patch I begin with Catherine Martin (by Turlough O'Carolan as played by Aryeh Frankfurter here on CZcams), that segues into Glen Livet, and after the final note which I have changed to a D major chord that is held 8 beats, the fiddlers come in with a reel, Scotch Mary.
Even though I am a keyboardist, with bit of cello and self taught bass voil and electric bass and rudimentary pedal steel guitar thrown in, I have come to the conclusion that, forget the rest of these, the harp is The Instrument I should have learned long ago.

That's really cool! Keep up the amazing music - and I do hope you get to start playing harp sometime in the future along with all your other instruments. :)

It sounds lovely. What harp are you playing?

Thanks, Sharon! This is a Dusty Strings Ravenna 26 with a drop-down foot added on (which has come in VERY handy!)

Rachel! You make the Ravenna 26 sing like no other! Gorgeous playing and spectacular setting! You are such an inspiration to a beginner like me. And, yes.... in answer to your question, I would love to hear this on your big harp! 🎉

Bev, you give just the best compliments ever. 🩷 I'm going to need to start paying you for these confidence boosts! 😂
