think they made the right choice, when her son is an adult and in a good place its never too late to reunite.

@@Michaelengelmann any and every organization that was built to help people like the woman who were captured did nothing but further cause suffering. i think back in the early 2000s every job (even low end jobs) wanted a highschool diploma, I couldn't tell you why though, growing up i just remember hearing how places like mcdonalds and walmart or even gamestop would most likely reject you if you didnt have a highschool diploma. that also could've just been a scare tactic to get me to graduate lol.

Movie name?
Wtf !!!?
She made such a painful choice, but so powerful
The fact that she asked for help and then had to fight for custody of her kid… which isn’t always helpful to the kid or the mother
It's unfortunate people experience lives like this in reality - parents don't support them as kids, grt pregnant and drop out of high school, can't get work, parents and/or their boyfriend/girlfriend is a disgusting person and abuses them and their kids. Some people never have a chance at a good life
Believe me I've been there and it's sad it was a sad time for me and for my parent :(
Sadly, as humans we need darkness to see the light, so many of us have great lives but do not see it because some other person looks like they have more happiness and wealth, and it might not even be real.
yeah and what's worse is people claim these kinds of things to be a part of God's plan.
@@alceushunterx well that is not God's plan because that's just not true bad people are making it up and abusing the religion and he did it to a girl that was way younger than him which is a sin you're only supposed to do it when you're married and to a person or that is an adult not a child.

Thank you for the recap❤❤❤
She got pregnant and he ended it? Why? Wasnt the whole point was because he wanted a big family? And had a daughter with one
Because she hated Michelle, because she was the one that fought back the most. It's based on a real life story.
It’s all mind games
These kinda stories always make me so sad. I wonder how early this could have been prevented. What if he hadn't been molested as a kid? What if she left an hour earlier? What if the cop actually responded to the call properly? It takes such a tragic snowball of events for something like this to become a DECADE long experience. It's absolutely horrific luck to end up in this exact situation, so much so that I'm not even surprised anymore when something like this happens.
WHY is it so hard for sites like this to give the MOVIE TITLE in the description???????
NOW I didn't watch it yet but when it said based on a true story.. I know those type of things are bad, i already knew when i read the title and the fact that it happened to some people is just heart breaking
This was big news when it happened and is the origin of the meme "DEAD GIVE AWAY. Dead give away"
there were several cases in the 2000's, early 2010's like this where women were held, some for many years. One guy in Austria held his own daughter in this secret bunker he built. He impregnated his own daughter, and the child spent the entire first few years of her life in that same bunker. I can't recall how she escaped but the whole thing was awful.
There was a case in my own town. At a house that i had driven past (or within a 100' of) a few times a week for years. FOR YEARS. Along with thousands of other people commuting past the house. Every day.
It made me wonder, where else is this happening RIGHT NOW? Years from now, we'll learn of it. Or worse, maybe we won't. And no one will ever know.
Thank God for people like this lady.

I still can't believe seeing this in the news way back
some things just dont need to be a movie in my opinion and this is one of them
This is exectly what needs to be a movie because it is real
@@FriendlyGhost-rf7tq just cause it happend doesn’t mean it needs to be a real movie this whole situation is sad enough as it is none of the victims benefit from the making of this movie monetarily and I’m sure it just brings back trauma that I’m sure they’ve tried to put behind them for years now not to mention last thing you want is some sicko watching this thinking he can be a better version of Castro or something and get away with it
@@alphabryan4703 Nah, that's a stupid argument. We make movies about slavery, genocides and brutal crimes to inform people who are ignorant on these events. This movie wasn't made to glorify Castro or what he did. That makes no sense. It's to shed light on an atrocity that occurred here in the US and to educate people who probably have never heard of this story. As human beings, we should and do write books, and make movies, shows, and tales about human rights abuses that have transpired throughout our history because if we don't history is bound to repeat itself. You should also know that violent movies don't create violent people. If there is another person like Castro out there that means their brain is already fucked up and they would've become what they are regardless.

I wonder how 3 healthy females without cuffs are unable to take the guy out or scream for help without anyone hearing them for such a long time
Honestly. In favorable easy-mode circumstances and I got no other plan, since I'm a great cook, after buttering/fattening him up with gourmet cuisine, earning his trust enough where he even lets me use the sharp knives, one night, I'd just be that chick to offer to cook a nice land/sea gumbo. Request a great big cast-iron pot to "trap the flavor", some fine wine for our "anniversary", and make sure he's downed a few glasses and bowls of gumbo, get him good and cozy, and then crack his head clean open with said pot, or pour the hot gumbo contents in his lap just to laugh at him. I'd then encourage the other women to start kicking his head in. If I know I'm in a situation I can't win, I'll comply, but I'm always plotting, I'm good at hiding things and equipment, scoping out the place, I'm quiet, and I'm very opportunistic. I see my chance, or can orchestrate a chance myself, I'm taking it. Ain't no way I'm staying with that lunatic and bearing and raising it's spawn. I'd chuck that baby right at his head if that meant my escape, fruck it. I'd have NO emotional ties to that mistake. I wouldn't have emotional ties to the other prisoners and if I can use them to my escape or all our escapes, all the better. If the other women want to stay, caught the Stockholm Syndrome, or are too scared to move, I'm LEAVING. Call it heartless, selfish, sociopathic, I don't care. It's all about my escape. All bets are off the moment someone makes me a prisoner AND makes me pregnant against my will. (Childbirth is an icky hell-no for me, so I'd want my revenge). So many of these basement/shack prison wards keep their prisoners because they put the fear of god in them that something bad will happen if they try and escape, when years pass by and virtually hundreds of chances pass them just because of that fear. Yeah. Not gonna be me. I'm already in a $hit situation with few options. May as well try, or keep trying. If I have to die by my warden because I'm too "stubborn", then oh well. That's one way to escape.

2:02 ya might as well have said hey would you like some candy? I mean cmon, let’s be real here. Not one soul would be like, sure, I know you offered me a ride to get to my destination and then all of a sudden a detour. It would’ve made more sense if, once in the car, he would’ve said “ok now, I’m going to kidnap you.” Also what in the world would she have done when getting the puppy? Take it to work?
In real life he said he had to go to his place to pick up his daughter and he could show her the puppies he had mentioned. And while they didn't know each other very well he was familiar to her because she was friends with his daughter (all 3 of them were friends with one of his daughters).
