The female singer is Sadhana Sargam not Alka Yagnik. And Rick is spot on regarding the sync of the lyrics and the slowmo. This song was a love anthem in 90s and still is for a lot of us. The movie is great too. 😍

After all these years, I only realised it today that it was a comple slow motion song... I had never noticed it consciously that way... and that they must have, in reality, shot the song's video with the music playing much faster and then later matched the pace... It seems even more fantastic now!

The filming technique is something like lip syncing to the song in real time while filming with a very sped up version of the song, so that when the video is slowed down it matches the track of the song. The same technique was used while filming the slow motion song (SRK & Deepika) called 'Titli' from the film Chennai Express. They show the behind the scenes of SRK & Deepika shooting clips of the song as its played out loud in a hilarious sped up version, so the slo-mo shots of the song match the track pace. Check out the behind the scenes clip! czcams.com/video/vm4eWl7nvS4/video.html

It looks seamless even in slo-mo because the actors had to mouth the words in highly sped up version, otherwise enacting at a slow speed. The high-speed film was then slowed down to get the dubbing and acting to finally meet halfway, looking normal on cinema screens. This one used to be the first in class back in the day.

It's technically not slow motion. It's called high-speed filming or shooting. Normal filming speed in India is 24 frames per second (fps). But in high speed, the song would be played in 2x speed while shooting, to which actors play in normal speed and is film-recorded in high-speed at 48 fps. Later when the film is played in normal speed (ie. at 24 fps), it gives an illusion of slow motion. But technically it's called high-speed filming. This beautiful technique was first adapted by Director Maniratnam in a Telugu movie called Geetanjali (in a beautiful music video: 'Jallanta Kavvinta', must watch and react, if you haven't) in 1989.

I think one of the most important aspects you are missing out is this is high school love. First crush. So it feels about right the way this has been portrayed

This was my first introduction to the fact that girls get friend zoned too. And then life happened and I got to experience it personally. Good times.. 😂

Check out this film as well... it’s a real cult classic from the 90s and the ending is super thrilling. Basically a sports film but...it’s got all The Bollywoodness you can get at that time, a complete package.

I could see that Rick was so invested in the song musically speaking. Even noticed him trying to figure out a note or two. The piano is so beautiful in this one. Almost has a Richard Marx sort of feel.

The song "Baare Baare chandada cheluvina thaare" from the 1972 Kannada movie "Nagaharahavu" was the first to be filmed in slow mo in Indian cinema.

Farah Khan won first filmfare award for best choreography for this song and she was debut in mainstream Bollywood choreography.
Beautiful song and beautifully captured the essence n innocence.

The technique is called as Cranking. Here the recording/shooting is done at a faster pace than usual(video as well as audio) which is then played back at the normal pace giving the effect of slow-mo

This is not the first slow-motion song in India. The song sundari neeyum sundaran njannum from the Tamil film Michael Madana Kama Rajan [1990] starring Kamal Hassan and Urvashi is the first song entirely picturized in slow motion. The choreographer of this Hindi song has admitted that she got the idea of slow-mo from a Tamil song. Pehla Nasha was in 1992.

Aamir Khan is more like India's Michael Fox. In fact, he did exactly the same Pepsi ad as Michal Fox.

Aamir Khan is one such thing in Bollywood. He does his job with honesty and devotion. He forgets each character's own personality and prepares himself for the character.

Wow, this is the first song in Indian cinema done that way. They make the song fast and lipsync - while acting at normal speed. Had the necessary effect on audience.
