Check out the Doco about the kid then ask how gloried he was.

Their actions aren't glorified, they're just interesting stories. Even look at Wolf at Wall Street. Tricking thousands of people, essentially scamming millions of dollars from people looks bad. Most people are against that, but the story of the man is still interesting.

Watched exactly half the trailer. I'm sold - I'd see it, but I don't want the whole goddamn movie revealed in the preview.
As the father of a drug addict... well, this hits home. When my son was just a toddler, I would reach out my arms, as wide as I could, then I would grunt out load, and stretch my arms out another inch or two wider, annd exclaim, "I love you THHIIIISSS MUCH"! He would giggle and smile, and he'd say, "My love you this much too Daddy", while holding his arms out wide. 20+ years later, he has theatened to kill me more times than he has told me he loves me, in the last year. Breaks my heart, every day.

Seems stupid to use a disco song for a gritty 80’s movie but that mix of "I Feel Love" is HOT.
In most cases the decade truly doesn't begin until mid way or after once its over. In 1991 we had music that still sounded like the 80's Wasn't until 1994 you really truly began to feel the sound and culture changing. By 96' it was officially the 90's.
Sorry, I didn't mean to be as general. I meant literally using a song from 1977 for a film set in 1984. Also, I disagree. They aren't clean breaks from the previous decades, obviously, but the new wave/new romantic era distinctively helped usher in the 80's and grunge, hip-hop and house established the 90's straight away.
you've got a point, early Grunge started in the late 80's however this track is synonymous with the cocaine, fashion and cars found in this particular part of this era in 1984. People at the point had moved on from disco however that still doesn't mean it didn't find it's way into the era. I think the track is simply used to express the feeling that this trailer and film invoke which is drugs and partying and crime.

First of all, the song is DOPE AS HELL, probably a classic but i never heard it much before. I really think the song is so good with this trailer that it might make it seem that much better then it is. That being said, it's McConaughey and you know the dude delivers! This one looks AWESOME!

Legend shouldn't even be used to describe him. I don't mind these type of films, but glorifying drug dealers, arms dealers and shady investment bankers as legends is all shades of wrong. They're assholes who are entertaining to watch, but they're not people we should aspire to be.

I do agree that these films seem to glorify, however at the same time, if they're not made, how else do we know not to follow those paths? These films still teach a lesson to those who really listen is that you cannot make an easy living in the streets as I quote someone above in the comments. Everyone of these films shows the same ending, you either end up behind bars, or in jail or destroying the ones you love. At the same time, it is a story of a desperate kid, with a desperate family to get out of the shitter. It tells a story of how those communities have gotten to where they're at. They break up families, ruin families, ruin their own family all for what?
