It is currently 6:40 AM in Buffalo New York. I've had the pleasure of playing Mahalia Jackson in Mahalia The Musical, She has inspired me my entire life. I discovered her in my life at the rightful age of six, in the movie Imitation of Life singing Precious Lord.The older I get the more inspirational she becomes to me. I am still singing Mahalia's music. At 68 years I just performed on Saturday, Didn't it Rain and A City called Heaven. Thank you Hailey for all the joy you've brought to my life 💖💖🤎

If Mahalia Jackson had crossed over into popular music she would be a household name. Her voice, her range she had it all, but she stayed true to her devotion to God and simply wouldn't do it. I have loved her for many years.

i used to love euphoria till season one...once it got tik tok famous it really got ruined. I remember when i would watch the first ever episodes and think how magical that show was, but it's very unfortunate cause i heard most of the cast left (and i still do think that it was mostly influenced by tik tok where everyone would find something to cancel someone's entire job career, which is really sad that most people have that kind of mindset)

I am 71 and have a personal, hand-written letter from Mahalia written in 1969. I was 17 at the time. I donated the original to Standfor U. libraries a couple years ago. What a treasure. I kept photocopies of it.
I bought a cassette with a bunch of Summertime covers twenty years ago or so in Yaroslavl, Russia, this song was one of them (another favorite of mine is by Modern Jazz Quartet).
