- Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. asserted his nation’s claims in the disputed South China Sea while taking pointed swipes at Beijing during a speech at Asia’s top security forum. “I do not intend to yield. Filipinos do not yield,” Marcos said at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, as China’s new defense minister sat in the audience.

When your colonial masters, Spain and the United States, transfer the Philippines from one to the other, they specifically stated in written document, that the territory of the Philippines does not include any territories in the South China Sea. It's known internationally as the South China Sea, not the West Philippines Sea. Also, the maritime boundary of Philippines is drawn up in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, which *DOES NOT include* the South China Sea Islands as within Philippines territory.
