I 've being with short breathing more tham 10 ys. No smoker. And fatigue. I complained a lot with doctors. Always sending me to psychologists to address my anxiety. Then coughing for 2 months and awful pain on my ribs. I demanded x-ray and cat 🐈 scan.
Results: lung cancer. Pet scan plus biopsy. Primary adenocarcinoma lung cancer stage 4A. Now feeling better with chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

My grandmother and mother both died of lung cancer. My grandmother’s cause of death was asphyxiation. Her lung cancer had spread so much it had grown into her esophagus. And other parts of the body. (It still hurts to write this.) She was blown off by several Drs after having many of these symptoms. This was in the 1980s. She was not taken seriously when she complained of so many symptoms. Her cancer was discovered on her autopsy.
Moral of the story. You know your body better than anyone. If you have one of the symptoms come up that Dr Hansen spoke of, find a Dr who will believe you and take you seriously.
My mom told me she simply waited too late. She knew something was wrong when she started having shortness of breath going up the stairs and couldn’t climb stairs as well. She was 54.

I’m a never-smoker who was diagnosed at stage 4 with a type of oncogene-driven lung cancer called ALK+ at the age of 51. My main symptom for the pricing year, was episodes of scapula (shoulder blade) pain that could last a week and then disappear for 3 months. An X-ray of that area 6 weeks before diagnosis found nothing unusual, although by that time I was also starting to exhibit more common lung cancer signs. I was later diagnosed with a Pancoast tumour, which appears at the top of the lung and is hard to detect by X-ray. Fortunately, I am taking a targeted therapy drug, whilst not a cure should give me a near-normal quality of life for several years.

The only symptom i had was fatigue which i attributed to age and work. Kidney and the affected Lobe were removed and i was extremely lucky to have caught them before Mets spread. There are far too many people diagnosed too late, a screening program would work wonders, once every 5 years perhaps?

Thanks Dr. Hansen. I'm a big fan of your videos and appreciate your valuable content. Just another thought on warning signs of cancer that don't involve the lungs. My brother, Mike, had a pain in his back for several months. When he finally went to the doctors (Christmas 2018), they found a mass on his spine that was non-small-cell lung carcinoma that had metastasized. Prior to the pain in his back, he had ZERO symptoms. At 61 he was a never smoker and always kept himself healthy. The mass was removed and he had good luck with Tagrisso and bounced back, taught himself how to walk again and returned to teaching ESL classes. Unfortunately about 15 months after his initial diagnosis, he passed out and fell, striking his head. More tests showed the cancer had spread into his cerebral spinal fluid, and that was pretty much game over - sadly he passed in Dec. 2020 at 63. Just a piece of advice to see a doctor when you are experience sudden onset of pain that becomes persistent, wherever it is.

I had terrible wheezing, squeaks and crackles, especially lying down to sleep. I couldn’t laugh without a fit of terrible coughing. It couldn’t get any worse, I thought my life was over, but it’s not. I Haven’t smoked for 5 months, my breathing is so much clearer, I can laugh, sleep quietly and my gums don’t hurt anymore. I vape occasionally if I go out with a smoking friend, but otherwise I can forget about it. I could never imagine saying that, thought I was a lifetime hooked chain smoker, and it’d be the early death of me. But, I have noticed that cigarettes are mentioned more often lately on tv programmes, dramas series and soaps, and it spoils if for me, seeing it on tv awakens my cravings, annoying actually, who’d have thought that gentle shows like Death in Paradise season 12 would be so full of it? 😳😟

I’m glad that you brought up fatigue, because it was stage four lung cancer you get to the point where you cannot do anything you can get into the shower. You might be able to wash the dishes and then sit down for a second then keep on going back-and-forth until they’re done but you really can’t clean the house the way that you want to have no energy none absolutely none and you cannot get your mail. I can get to the mailbox but I cannot get back into the house.😂 and I’m very sleepy all the time, and my muscles hurt because of the adrenal gland that was attacked through immunotherapy which worked perfectly. It literally almost wiped out the whole cancer. I’ve been alive now for eight months I wonder how long I have and I want wanna know if you could do a video of how we die am I gonna fall asleep and die? Am I gonna drown to death? Am I gonna choke to death? How do people lungs die and I don’t know how to spell but I don’t know how to punctuate so I’m using my speaker.

I have lung cancer too, just finished chemo and only doing immunotherapy now,I do get tired more but I try to do breathing exercises to help my lungs ,no guarantees it's going to work even though my tumors have shrunk alot.
I had no idea when, where or how I'm going to die before I got lung cancer and I don't want to know now either, just enjoy whatever time we have on earth.
Hope we both can peacefully leave this world when it's our time....good luck to you❤

You just mentioned about chest pains in certain forms of manner ok as a smoker can get what is known as a cold on the chest and that causes chest pains anyway and also with the caughing lark with the chest pains so don't assume that just because when you get a cold on your chest and assume that you have got lung cancer so there you go.😊

I have a theory that many young people nowadays will get COPD in a few decades. They’re seemingly constantly stooped over looking at their devices which means they’re shallow breathing, not deep from the diaphragm like they should be, and this shallow breathing will cause lung problems like COPD. Vaping and a lack of fitness certainly won’t help.

In Sweden step 1 of the lung testing is having a measurer on the finger that checks blood oxygen level. And you have to take a deep breath and breathe out hard in a tube, with and without lung expander inhaling. If all of these pass, then they refuse you x-ray. I have recurring problems with my lungs. Often shortness of breath. Often mucus to cough up, often with dried blood in it. I often don't have the energy to speak. They say it can't be astma, and it can't be KOL. AND I had a brother who died from his organs shutting down. AND I have 3 relatives with respiratory problems and spots in their lungs, and another with KOL. I really want to x-ray my lungs and organs, but since I pass the oxygen level and breathing OUT hard, then I'm refused my X-ray request..... I'm not surprised if ANY other country would take it more seriously. Please tell me what I can do to get an X-ray.

My grandpa died of lung cancer a month ago (77 yo), even tho he did smoke 3 packs of cigarets per day for 50 years straigth and worked in open mines a radiologist said cancer didn't came from smoking cause he hadn't smoke for the 15 years. Now i have a dry cough for 7 weeks after i had some for 4 days. I am 100% convinced that my cough is from lung cancer and my grandpa was geneticly predestined to get one so i have the same possibility of having lung cancer. Your cough is not in your head but I would doubt that you have lung cancer. You are too young and you don’t smoke. If you are living with your parents I would suggest speaking to them about your fear and see if you could maybe get a physical exam to find out why you are coughing. Your grandpa certainly could get lung cancer after he quit smoking because he smoked for 50 years.

I'd start smoking again right this second if I could inhale it. Smoking made my nose fall off from smoke related carcinoma, so I can't puff anymore. When I puff on a cigarette, my nose whistles. I miss looking cool when I smoke. Go buy a carton for yourself AND your dad.
