  • Sinclair Broadcast Group is the largest owner of local TV stations in the country. That's alarming considering that they often inject political views into local news.

Honestly that’s the problem with right wing news. It takes whatever peanuts about the left they can find and makes them into “national tragedies” and “scandals”. Sure, the left does that too, but they make considerably less mountains out of mole hills than Fox News, OAN, or Sinclair does. For an example, the Daily Show has a hilarious compilation of Fox News reporting on Obama “scandals”; basically just Fox News losing their shit over mundane things that former President Obama did like having a soldier carry an umbrella for him during a speech (which other presidents, including republican ones have done) or him ordering Dijon mustard on a burger. It’s very funny.

no world order nah just a demagogue. It doesn't take a shadowy organization. He is an idiot but he is talented at seeing the weaknesses in people. He identified the things that enough Americans fear and spoke to those fears. Individuals can be reasonable, but he drove his followers into being a mob, and the mob is an unreasonable beast especially when driven by the hate and fear mongering rhetoric he spewed. People suddenly felt here is someone who cares about my concerns and they ignored his heinous views, actions, and statements because of that perceived care. So now we are stuck with a president who thought running a country of over 300 million people, with a 12 trillion dollar+ annual GDP, and managing the defense, infrastructure and institutions of that country would be easier than his previous job. In other words, a delusional moron. Amazing what a demagogue can accomplish innit? In the past they have led countries to morally repugnant wars, genocide, and just inhuman crimes. Pretty impressive for what would amount to a greasy used car salesman if they never encountered the right situation to used their skills.

@jacob It's not as simple as that. Past matters but it doesn't matter in a sense that past isn't now. It was a whole different World. Any group of people is literally not the same people as 150 years ago. None of those people are alive and people of today couldn't influence the things of the past in any way. So associating people of today for what their ancestors or organizations did in the past is just plain stupid. It's like blaming modern Germans for what Nazi Germany did just because they are Germans. Or blaming Democrats for Democratic party supporting slavery 250 years ago. Only thing they share is the party's name and maybe relatives.

Yes, history is important, always remember it, but _learn_ from it too; and that's different from dwelling, something that can be a poisonous practice if allowed to go on.
I honestly cannot give a remote amount of a shit for either party, Republican or Democrat. They both hold points, they both get shit wrong, because they're both a party of _people_ at the heart of it. Whatever they were or did centuries before doesn't impact me in any way, so why should that factor into my opinions of either of them here and now?

Sorry to say, but yes, the FBI as an organization can have a "personal vendetta", because the FBI is an organization made up of people. If the majority of people in an organization, or the majority of the leadership of an organization, take actions against someone or something in a vengeful manor, then that organization CAN be said to have a "personal" vendetta against said person or thing, even though we are talking about a multitude of people because those people act as one through the organization.
If you want an example: The US could have been said to have a personal vendetta against Al Qaeda after 9/11, because the majority of people in the nation, including leadership, were wronged by said group.
The nuances of English can be hard to understand, and sometimes it doesn't always make sense, but that's how we speak. Look up "corporate personhood".

+Me&My Мемасы There are news stations all around the globe that are still more or less impartial. The state run news channel is by far one of the most viewed in my country (Switzerland). If they send anything political they will give time to different point of views.
e.g. We have a weekly format that invites politicians from all over the place to discuss things that are of current interest to the public for 1.5 hours with extra specialists on that particular topic. You will even learn a thing or two from a point of view you didn't consider, because let's be honest: we all live in our bubble. All of us. It's also interesting because I'm slightly more open to others opinions than my wife (She's an Anarcho-Communist and I'm more of a far-far left guy.(Don't hate us :P We will let you belief what you want!)) and we often end up discussing about the topic ourselves.
Living in Switzerland and our open form of democracy might help a lot.
Our News and Interviews are also really trustworthy. And I'm not alone on that. They report facts and ask tough questions. And our reports don't accept bullshit for an answer, they will ask 'till they get an answer. It's funny to see people struggle to answer a simple question like "why?".

Top wow, you're being extremely vague.
And authoritarianism is not necessarily a bad thing in every instance. Outlawing murder is authoritarian because it's authoritative in it, so unless you're a full-on anarchist (and some do argue against having any system of law) then everyone agrees with some level of authoritarianism, and it's a matter of how much is too much and how little is too little. What's acceptable and what is not. Someone like Oliver is about center in terms of libertarianism vs. authoritarianism, or thereabouts.
I will however disagree with the OP that Oliver is the most trustworthy source. That's just preposterous. He's good at muckraking and digging up things which people don't talk about enough, but there are plenty of independent outlets and people who do investigative journalism, people who deserve much more credit by Oliver's own admission. Not to mention, but LWT can engage in some disingenuous bullshit from time to time (ex. presenting Jill Stein as an anti-vaxxer (she just isn't. She has her problems, like saying that Obamacare wasn't a step in the right direction, but she's not that much of a crank) and acting like the biggest issues with Tim Kaine are that he's "boring" and a white guy (not his horrendous stances on the TPP or bank regulation)). John Oliver is imperfect in my honest opinion--not because I disagree with his politics (I'm a progressive, though probably a bit more left and libertarian leaning).

Trump won for a lot of reasons, but this was definitely one of them. And Sinclair isn't even the only company doing this. People like to write thinkpieces about "information bubbles", but the truth is, the vast majority of the time those bubbles aren't naturally formed, they are manufactured by media companies functioning as white supremacist propaganda outlets.
People can be racist and bigoted even without this kind of interference, but the specific kind of racism and bigotry that allowed Trump and the Internet Nazis (also known as the Alt-Right) to rise to power is something that has been deliberately stoked by people who are at best two degrees of separation away from actual neo-Nazis.

Trigger warnings for stuff like: sexual assault, graphic violence, various forms of bigotry or just visual/audio effects that might have a negative impact on someone's health are just useful. If someone is triggered by sexual assault (possibly because they were a victim of it) then they know to avoid it, same thing with the graphic violence thing. And visual/audio effects can be dangerous, do we need to have another 'Electric Soldier Porygon' Incident, and audio can cause nausea via Infrasound. Honestly I think conservatives are mad that they can't scream their bigoted nonsense so they scream about everyone else being offended, while they're mad that they can't directly scream racial slurs.

Just a heads-up - If the video has more likes than views, that's because CZcams requires that you watch a certain amount of the video before it's counted as a view, while likes can be counted immediately. Therefore, likes will appear before views and so the like-to-view ratio will be higher.
Approximately 50% of the comments anywhere are now unnecessary.

    • @9bladesofice

The lag is somewhat of CZcams trying to verify that the views are legitimate before just saying 100,000 people or whatever the number it is watched the video. If it's featured on tv anywhere that CZcams video has a good reason to have tons of views. It helps to stop people from making their video have tons of fake views except where CZcams somewhat messed up where people have now named themselves "1,000,000 views" or something and then people get tricked. All that to say it's also verification and CZcams has problems haha.
