Honestly, it's not much of a loss. Because of things like shiny hunting and pkhex, shiny pokemon aren't anything special anymore.
I'd say shiny Pokemon still feel special if you encounter them randomly. To me, hunting for them takes all the fun out of finding Shinys, and, as you pointed out, it devalues them.

So I recently found this video despite watching various ones on your channel Dobbs, but you mentioned the Magikarp with Celebrate.
Well by happenstance, in my Moon version, I did a lot of Wonder Trades within the first couple months of release and actually ended up with the 2015 Magikarp that had Celebrate and Happy Hour. I did however evolve it to Gyarados though.

The most unique Pokémon just in the games currently to me has to be Inkay/Malamar. Definitely two of my favorites, they are the only ones who can learn topsy turvy, and the only Pokémon to evolve by using the directional sensors in the handheld consoles

I had an odd experience in the gen 1 games when I finally got around to seriously trying to complete the pokedex. I used pokemon blue and pokemon yellow, but I ended up failing overall because I needed pokemon red to get vulpix and magmar to finish. It wasn't a total waste though, I ended up encountering something that very few do in those games and that I've yet to see many people cover; Mono-chrome pokemon. I started off with just pokemon blue at the beginning, and I found out while playing pokemon stadium that it had a pc box I could store pokemon in and transfer them to new game saves. That's how I ended up with all of the starters, and starting the game with different low level pokemon really changed things up for me. But on the second game save I captured mewtwo, only to find out many saves later that it was a different color-scheme than normal. At first I didn't notice, I'm colorblind so unless you put it next to a regular one, I would have never noticed, which was exactly what happened after playing with it in a match in pokemon stadium against my in-game party. I'm not sure what caused it or why, but it was cool that it could retain the black and white color scheme between games and platforms. Sadly the game's battery died a few years ago and I lost it forever, but it was cool while it lasted. Might be something worth covering in a future video if you ever get around to it. There was so little info on it at the time that I discovered it that I never could really understand why it happened.

That was a translation error. The American Red and Blue are basically romhacks of the Japanese Blue(the 3rd version in japan), using the encounter rates and ingame trades of Pokemon Red and Green. They forgot to change the dialogue of the trade, which was, in the Japanese blue, your kadabra for their graveler.

It's essentially a rare mutation or subspecies of pichu, whereas the blue orb pikachu was a regular pikachu only temporarily under the influence of some item. None of the differences in behavior or appearance were the result of some special trait or ability the pikachu had that set it apart from other pikachus, all the differences were entirely the effects of the item. It's no different from when you give a pokemon a stat-boosting item to hold or use some move against it which affects its behavior. There's nothing unique about the pokemon itself. The only thing you might consider unique is the item.
