DecapAttack is a Genesis exclusive game starring the mummy Chuck D. Head who's on a quest to stop an underworld army. To do so, Chuck must overcome several dangers, such as clever fishes, seals with sunglasses, and maniac bulldozers. At his disposal, Chuck has several ability-enhancing potions, as well as a spare skull to chuck at his enemies.
This is a 10 second improvement over the previous run ( tasvideos.org/... ). Most of the time saved comes from better optimization and use of the swinging poles that can be used to go faster than with regular running.

I grew up playing this game on the cheap AtGames Genesis and beat the game on it a day ago, it was probably my most played game on the thing next to Bonanza Bros., Columns III and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I could never make it past Pumpington because of that dang mole boss! Was pretty proud of myself when I finally got through the whole thing. The ending's surprisingly wholesome for a comical horror-themed game.

7:20 That ceiling glitch took me a good handful of minutes and save states to achieve. I can't imagine anyone doing it first try without TAS.

Decap Attack was introduced to me as part of my purchase of Sega Genesis Collection in Late Quarter IV of 2006, I had gotten the PlayStation 02 version alongside Mortal Kombat VII: Armageddon and the then~incarnation of Action Replay MAX: EVO Edition when GameStop was in its infancy at Dedham Mall, marking one of my final major gaming investments while I was in my last full~time fiscal year in Boston; Decap Attack was completely played with Savestates, there was no way that I was able to get used to the physics on my first run of it back then and I'm honestly happy that I did so, as it had allowed for me to better understand the Exploratory nature of the game and also get used to all of the powerups and the End of Zone Minigame that gets skipped in this TAS.
There will come a time where I will return to this and also the Japanese title that it is based on (Magical Hat's Turbo Flight! Adventure), it was worth giving it a chance roughly Sixteen Years ago and it will be worth giving it that attention again in a new light and with firm familiarity; the platforming and strategy that is needed for this entry makes it a good challenge and it's one of the more fair and reasonable experiences that the Genesis side of the Megadrive's original run had offered. Did you know you can eventually just skip any boss if you jump over the boss spawn?

No, that only works in Levels 2, 3 and 6. In all other stages the screen just locks no matter how high you jump.

7:25 Good thing this boss-skipping glitch works in DecapAttack. If you try this in Magical Hat, the boss still spawns and the screen LOCKS which means you are stuck above the ceiling. None of the items can force your way down to fight the boss, and since these games don't have such a thing as a "suicide" button or a time limit, the ONLY way to lose is by taking damage. So you are pretty much fucked, you gotta restart the game.
