Kid Chameleon is the story of a kid trapped in an arcade machine, where he has to traverse many different kinds of levels from different "games" and can transform into many types of characters. It is rather convoluted, with the ability to take many paths to the last level.
Instead of taking the fastest path, this movie takes the longest path possible without backtracking, but does so as quickly as possible. Several new tricks originated in this run that only recently found their way into the any%.

Less than 30mins is insane....!?
This is easily (in my opinion) the best Mega Drive game there was, a huge game especially when trying to get 100%!
Never could complete this behemoth of a game without the level skip cheat on level 2. 😭 So many good memories though.
I beat it once legit with no skipping; but I had to use a gaming magazine to tell me the right path to take. Before then; I'd just get lost roughly halfway through the game
This was one of the few games we had so me and my brother actually beat it without any cheats or skips. Funny thing is i probably beat Dark Souls dozens of hours faster than Kid Chameleon. Games used to be too punishing.
@@Zappero Kid Chameleon was MERCILESS. Taking a wrong warp could kill a run and leave you starting a difficult level with the wrong helmet. 🤣
This game was so damn sick. I borrowed it from a classmate who owned it, every time I got the chance.
The soundtrack couldn't be more Sega Genesis if it tried...

The Mega Drive can sound way better than this GEMS-made OST. Look at Captain America and the Avengers for a truly "MD-like" OST.

Ugh; "the final marathon" was still the toughest level to me. I know many would say "bloody swamp" but that level was short and just required good timing on movement.
agreed! I can beat Bloody Swamp like nothing now, first or second try always. The stairway of rubber blocks is the hardest part...but as long as you stop running and just slowly step down, it's a piece of cake.

I used to play this insane game when I was just a child, I remember the first time I managed to get to the last boss: it took the whole day, I was quite sick but I knew I HAD to finish it 😂

I played this with some relatives a few times when I was younger. Once we played 12 hours in a row and got a full game over on the final stage of the game. The next time I played the game, I beat it in 2.5-3 hours by myself. These days it takes me about 60-90 minutes for casual runs.

I saw many unbelievable things! TAS really is a good way to enjoy the game!
Given I didn't even see the levels after about 13 mins in, I was nowhere close to beating this game...

I remenber seeing the later city levels but everytime i stop playing ut was on the tree level

@@valletas They do help, but you have to take the right ones.
It's just that you were expected to figure this out on games back then and they didn't have a guide or anything to help. So good luck not getting sent backwards for the 5th time if you couldn't figure it out.

This speedrun is so weird :') it's sort of like a 100% but instead you're trying to spend as little time as possible in every level
I just finish the ps3 genesis collection version of this game, damn it was HARD and the floating head with 12 eyes final boss was really creepy, i remember playing this as a kid on my pc, now im 31!!

that was fucking awesome. I struggled as a child to beat this game with my friends and brothers. In my teens I beat it using 'save state' on a computer emulator. Then I finally beat it on the xbox by getting to the warp level, and warping for all my future runs. Game is legit awesome.

I had this exact warping method 10 years ago.
When i heard music from kid chameleon for sega genisis,i thought it was the actual FM soundchip and not the GEMS soundchip
You were right before, the music is played using the Genesis' YM2613 FM chip and SN76489 PSG chip. GEMS was not a chip, but rather a software program used as an aid in writing music for the hardware
Never realized just how linear the start of the game is. Up until a few levels before the first boss, the route's the same as the normal fastest route. And even then the deviations are pretty minor.
I remember playing this game & this game was hard because that murder wall level was like "how do I get past this?"

I had to use the second stage cheat in order to beat this game. I couldn't beat the 3rd drill wall.

Why does the TAS restart the round at times when entering a new area?
It’s faster to restart the level than to transform out of the Iron Knight costume

I beat it after a few years. I was probably ten and it took me a few dozen hours of attempts but hey, that sounds like a pretty good bang for your buck if you ask me.
I bought this game in 1992 and I'm still playing it today. That's gotta say something.

Parabens, vc REALMENTE foi bom. Mas Sério, você nao se divertiu, resolver os quebra cabeças de kid chameleon é que esta a graça do jogo. Porem vc é mto bom!
Ele usou GAME GENIE ou algo que modificou o jogo, não é normal "andar abaixado no ar" e tem horas que dá pra ver que ele deveria ser atingido mas passa por dentro dos ataques ileso, se jogasse sem truques nunca faria uma jogada assim, isso aí é fake.
@@Alexander-Targeryan_1978Isso é TAS: Tool Assisted Speedrun. Não é uma pessoa, mas um computador jogando. Vc treina o programa com os objetivos e uma hora ele fica bom e até explora bugs. Tem uns vídeos bons explicando isso no YT.
Eu demorrei 5 horas para zerar esse jogo com 13 anos...
