I saw one of your videos about a baby mouse "accidentally murdered" it's mother in my recommendation and I thought why the heck not
And then I started watching more and more of your videos bc they're very entertaining
So long story short, I subscribed
I have been fascinated by a number of your traps, both live & kill traps !
My question is,
being that you are doing a catch and release with your live trap videos.
Have you ever tagged the mice, or in some way marked them to know if you are catching them more than once ?

Hey Shawn, if you ever get snake problems, do you use traps on them or do you just let them eat the mice?
Imagine if Shawn were to get like 5 million subscribers. or otherwise to a point where the mouse trap videos were his biggest source of income. Then he would start making traps for snakes and other predators, to protect his mice and rats XD
Never could understand why anyone would consider snakes a problem. Unless we're talking about diamondbacks or coral snakes, they've always been welcome on my property.

Here's an idea to play with, I saw it on my Facebook feed, and I wish I could send you the picture somehow.
Its a kill trap, that's mainly a metal grate and 3 wires wires. (Positive, negative and ground, I assume.) The mouse stands on the grate, which is electrically charged, via plug in or battery. It did not specify. One of the wires is suspended just high enough for a mouse to reach for the bait that's smeared on it. (In this case, peanut butter.) The mouse will touch the live wire, complete the circuit, and instantly be killed by the jolt of electricity.

Blind Prosopagnosiac I'm pretty sure air can slip in through the cracks by the door, also a mouse is a small animal, they do not need a lot of air, that box could probably provide enough air for a few hours at least.

You should drill some holes on the top of the box trap so the mice can breathe easy, not be stressed out and they still wouldn’t be able to escape.

one could size that up to larger critters nice and easy to build thanks..
You probably could drill some holes in the box to there would be a better air flow system in the trap so that the mouse would be less stress in there if the box heats up on the inside but nice video none the less
making a live-catch trap hundreds of years ago... why? There were probably too many mice nibbling at the stored grains... I am surprised any trap was made to only catch, not kill.

Nice trap if you're happy to stay up all to reset it during a plague LOL. But yeah, nice trap. I prefer the flywheel and bucket or the greasy pole method when the mice get bad..

Shawn Woods next time you kill a mouse, use cheese as bait. They will have a tougher time getting to it which makes it easier to get trapped
If you want to dispatch them I'd recommend a .177 air pistol. A .22 air rifle is recommended for rats.

I did this last week but with a Lego box. I knew the mouse will chew through cardboard so I taped popsicles on it.

Aren't you nervous for your pets with that door? Seems like it has enough force to break a bone or two if they accidentally tripped that when they're not 100% inside.
I kinda get it with the captive ones, but idk, didn't he buy Indiana Jones? It's like their pet.. pet, not just a captive pet.
Those live catch traps as such that the mouse has to be inside to trigger it. Otherwise it's a faulty design. The only thing even a little at risk is the tail.
Note that in this case, only his own trigger modification made is so that the mouse has to really be inside.

I don't think they would have let it go in those days. The mouse would have been good eating for the peasant class.
not at all...its not stoneage. people in 1865 didint eat mices just like that. only on starving ships or thing like that. in the american civil war (and many other wars before that) many unsupplied soldiers prefered not to eat than to take horse meat ration.
people living before our time were not total bumpkins living in atrocius poverty all the time
