    Der Monitor, den meine Tochter kostenlos beim Kauf ihres Computers dazubekam, ging kaputt. Die Symptome waren dieselben wie von Ihnen behobenen, die Kapazitoren sind ausgewechselt, der Monitor laeuft wieder. Vielen Dank aus Amerika. Sachen nicht gleich in den Muell schmeissen zu muessen, ist awesome.

    it works! thanks! i have a little bit of hobby electronics experience, and I wasn't expecting it to be the caps, but thanks to your video this was quite an easy fix. :-) device was a Grundig DAVIO 20 inch LCD tv, symptoms were: sometimes black screen on power up, then quick black flicker darkening screen and making it unwatchable (which would stabilize when left on for some time), then always black screen. now it's proper blue again. :-)

    • @romaneberle
      @romaneberle Před 4 lety

      @Anton Cabais hi! no, i dont think there's a logo, the monitor's idle screen is just plain blue color. (I dont have it running right now.) I dont remember if my monitor was only black (=screen on, but "color" black), or "blacker-than-black" (=screen off, pixels zero brightness, like no power) before the repair. So I guess I wont be much help...?

    Hey Tuhl Teim,
    I have the exact same Hanns.G monitor, however I'm having a completely different problem. The monitor turns on just fine, however the screen is completely WHITE. I suspect that it *might* be the backlight of LCD -- the problem began with the screen becoming lighter and lighter, as though the brightness had been turned p when in fact I did not change the brightness setting. It used to be that when I left the monitor off without the power cable for a period of time, the monitor would function just fine. Then I ended up having to do that more and more. At that point the monitor would turn on, display just fine for a second or two, then immediately get brighter and brighter, THEN go completely white. Now when the monitor turns on, it just immediately gives me a white screen.
    I would GREATLY appreciate your expertise on this issue. Please respond as soon as you can!

    you need to match the capacitance. It affects the smoothness of the DC and is used in conjunction with the inductors to smooth the pulsating dc to a relatively flat line dc

    • @davidbolha
      @davidbolha Před 3 lety

      I always thought the capacitance can be higher (as voltage)... 🤔
      I mean won't the capacitor be charged only to that capacitance (which is pre-determined by other components before that) ? 🤔

  • @skuzziYT
    @skuzziYT Před 8 lety +14

    I'm pretty sure you can't just change out a 2200uf cap with a 4700uf. The voltage doesn't matter as long as the replacement is equal or higher. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

    • @cameronhansen5228
      @cameronhansen5228 Před 8 lety +2

      +Sam Buckler i would tend to agree with you on this one same , it is possible that the guy just hasnt given a good explenation but you can use a cap of hte same or higher voltage rating should never replace it with one of a lower voltage rating but you should also never replace it with a capacitor of a differant farrad rating unless you are 100000000% sure that the capacitor is only used for smoothing purposes as the farrad rating of a capacitor plays a BIG role in the calculations done in an RLC circuit , So please guys if you try this the voltage should be the same or higher but USE THE SAME FARRAD rating as what you took off the board . Also the capacitor this guy used as an example of a blown capacitor is actualy from a computor motherboard , not one he removed from the screen .

    • @tuhlteim8769
      @tuhlteim8769  Před 8 lety +4

      +cameron hansen Basically it's the best to replace a capacitor with another one with the same rating, voltage and farrad rating. In my case, I repaired lots of monitors with capacitors of the same voltage (or higher) and the same farrad rating (or higher). These repaired monitors still work after years properly.
      When a monitor breaks down due to bad capacitors the question is, whether these bad capacitors were too small-dimensioned. But despite this speculation it's definitely safer to replace a bad capacitor by an identical one.

    • @ErwinAarnoudse
      @ErwinAarnoudse Před 7 lety +5

      I agree with Sam. I would NEVER replace a 2200uF cap with a 4700uF. I always use the same capacity and a higher voltage rating. When you use 4700uF, you mutate the circuit and that might be not safe.

    • @tuhlteim8769
      @tuhlteim8769  Před 8 lety

      Hi Stormhammer, maybe your bulbs (ccfls) are broken. If your monitor has no LED illumination, it has (at least) two ccfls. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_cathode) If one or more are physically broken, the logic board discovers this failure and turns off the power of the tubes. Replacing the caps doesn't help here. You have to replace the ccfls. Usually this doesn't pay off.

    • @tuhlteim8769
      @tuhlteim8769  Před 9 lety

      Dave Douglas Maybe - but rather a CRT is broken inside of your monitor. When you turn it on, the electronics powers up the CRTs. If a CRT is broken, the electric current gets too high and the control electronics turns it off for safety reasons. So your screen turns black.

    Hanns-G HH221 No video after replacing 7 Capacitors
    Let me begin by saying that recently this Hanns-G computer monitor started experiencing only staying on for like 2 seconds, there was video and audio from HDMI, there was a slight zap like sound from the back but no other issue, after checking around I learned this is a fairly common problem with bad capacitors, I examined them and found none to appear bulging or burned but seeing how this was the least costly repair I decided to replace the ones that are recommended replacing. So I just replaced 7 capacitors as recommended by the seller I bought them from on ebay, I made sure they were installed properly with the negative side, short lead correctly, made sure no solder overlapped to short anything on the circuit. I put back the CCFL and re-attached the Power board to the video display board, turned it on and now The green light shows there is a signal it stays on when the HDMI cable is removed the light turns yellow like it should,Windows shows the monitor is connected, audio is working through HDMI the zapping sound is gone, but there is no video whatsoever, I mean I shine a flashlight on the LCD and I can't see anything so that kind of rules out the backlight. I also tested it with VGA and same thing no video. I can't figure out what went wrong, I have checked and double checked the Video board cable, the CCFL connectors and nothing, the only thing I can figure is that that it's either the LCD or inverter is now gone and if that's the case I'm done as it's just gonna get too costly to fix. If anyone has any idea what's going on here and what might be the cause please help. Thanks
