- Elizabeth Montgomery, an actress best known for the television series "Bewitched," died on May 18, 1995, after losing her fight with colon cancer. She had a 62-year-old age.
Elizabeth's family revealed details of her final days shortly after she passed away, acknowledging that her final wish was to pass away quietly and secretly. Her cancer diagnosis, which occurred around eight weeks before she died away, was among the details that surprised people the most.
While filming “Deadline for Murder: From the Files of Edna Buchanan,” she started experiencing flu-like symptoms that seemed more severe than usual as she lost weight and felt tired, but she decided to ignore it.
When Elizabeth finished shooting, she checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. After the first exploratory surgery, doctors diagnosed her with colon cancer and determined that she was too weak for radiation therapy, so she was sent home.
William Asher, her third husband and father of her three children, revealed that Elizabeth was shocked after hearing the diagnosis, though she was angry about it soon later.
Only four days later, the actress had to go back to the hospital as she felt worse. The second surgery made clear that the disease had spread and all hopes were lost.

Elizabeth had a very rare gift in that she only got prettier with age. When Bewitched was popular, I thought she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, and couldn't wait to catch every next episode. It wasn't until I was married and had a family of my own, that she became ill and I heard her age for the first time, and realised she was almost 30 years older than myself! Oh, what a gorgeous lady she truly was, even in her last years. Apparently, based on her reported tendency to get involved with charitable causes, she also had a beautiful soul. God is surely blessing Elizabeth Montgomery.

A memorial was held a month later at a theatre where Herbie Hancock played the piano, and her daughter, sons, nurse, husband, and others reminiscent about Elizabeth's life and her career.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her talent, sense of humor, her numerous work with charities, and her efforts to make this a better place during her lifetime. But most of all, from everything that i've read and seen, she was a loving mother.

She is a poster girl for colon cancer screaning. This disease has made colonocopy a common invasive screaning test. The truth is it can be everything from deadly to useless. Stool occult (blood) testing is super easy and totally safe. It should be a first line yearly screaning tool for everyone with a family history of colon cancer. It costs almost nothing compared to the invasive exam that costs insurance over a thousand dollars.

Chronic dieters are more likely to get colon cancer. It causes the immune system to weaken. I got it from chronic dieting my doctor said. Both dieted to stay thin most of their lives. Both on tv.
