    I have had a couple of these and just bought another one with a CT laser grip for $600 and they shoot great, can be painful shooting 357 full loads, but having a good grip can help with the recoil. I use 38+P in mine and carry it in a Galco horsehide pocket holster which works great here in Florida where I wear shorts the majority of the time. Great choice for pocket carry, lightweight and well made and a solid pistol. I do prefer the CT laser grips on mine, better grip then the stock boot grips and helps with the recoil.

      Nice, I've been meaning to add a laser grip to mine. What model grip does yours have?

  • @ncraider2000

    357 out of this thing is like having a 12 Guage Derringer go off in your hands. I've put about 45 rounds through mine mostly 38 special standard pressure of 132 g pmc bronze fmj I haven't even had it a week and I shoot a cylinder of 158 g Winchester Jhp and after 3 of those I didn't want to finish the cylinder considering my hand was bleeding lol. I've also shoot some gold dot 135 g short barrel 38+p which I can control alot better than the 357 Winchester loads and from that being said I prefer to just carry the gold dot considering I can be more accurate with it. I didn't get this because of the 357 I got it because before this I had a 442 and I wanted the lightest j frame I could get and this does the trick I carry this loaded with the Speer golddot and it is probably just as light if not lighter than a 442/642 unloaded. So it much more convenient for your pocket I'm not a fan of iwb carry tbh never have been so as light as this is its perfect for me. Not to mention it has better sights than just a fixed blade sight. If you're considering getting one I'd say go for it. BUT this is far from a beginners handgun I've been familiar with the smith and Wesson j frame for a long time due to my grandfather having one and how you master one of these it's all about trigger control. You just have to know how to stage it just right and realign your sight picture right before it breaks and it's very actuate but realistically. 15 to 20 yards is about as far as I would try to hit something with this. This is not a firearm I would want to have if I was to get into a said gunfight with. This is strictly a get off me gun but for the average person like me who doesn't go out looking for trouble I don't feel undergunned with 5 rounds of golddot 38+p and as light as it is. It does it's job well and if you're familiar with the j frame I'd highly recommend it 👍. I have the model without the lock though and that would be the one I recommend anyone get but. I'm not one of those guys that's says you have to get one without it. But I just feel like if it's there that's just another thing that could go wrong and get you killed. Great revolver 👍

      I've had one since they first came out and they are well worth the money if you want a pocket revolver with that much power that doesn't pull your pants down from the weight. If you don't want to pay the $1,000 bucks for a new one then I'd go to gunbroker .com and look for a used one. You can find a pretty good buy on them sometimes because a lot of people can't stand the recoil and sell them. I put a set of Crimson Trace Laser grips on mine and it still only weighs 11.58 ounces empty.

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      al smith I was also thinking of getting a crimson trace for it to reduce the recoil on your hands. How do you like it?

    • @AlaVol66
      @AlaVol66 Před 4 lety +1

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors...The Crimson Trace laser grips I bought for mine were the older model grips which were the LG-205's and they were made from hard polymer and they don't help with recoil. They're extra light but hard on the hands but the hard polymer doesn't cling to the material in your pockets when you draw it out which is a plus since I only pocket carry the 340PD. They discontinued making the LG-205's now and there are a couple of different models of soft rubber ones made now. The Crimson Trace LG-405 model is one of the soft rubber models that will make the recoil a little more bearable with the .357 Mag round. Just go to Crimson Trace's web site and take a look at the models they make for the J Frame. I like the looks of the LG-405's because they're a bit smaller than the LG-350's. Anyway it's nice to have several choices. Good luck to you.

    • @oldcop18
      @oldcop18 Před 3 lety

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors Moon clips won’t work/fit unless the cylinder is specially cut for them & I don’t believe it is. As to the speedloaders not fitting you need to either change the grips or modify the existing grips and they’ll work. I sanded my left grip panel down and the speedloader works great.

    S&W 340PD....aka, The Punisher. Shooting anything but .38 cal and it punishes you unmercifully. What do you expect from the smallest frame S&W makes in an ultra lightweight gun weighing only 12 ounces? Yeah....12 ounces! Excellent choice for CCW. The hammerless feature means there’s no hammer to get caught on anything when your life is on the line during the draw where every second counts. Is it expensive? Sure....compared to the cost of a lot of other guns that can be had for less money, but what is your life worth?

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors

    Before you make video you should familiarize yourself with the specs. This gun may be at the limit of weight vs. caliber. 357 magnum has “macho appeal” but has very little tactical advantage over 38 special. And after all this is CCW gun. I carry a 638. The ONLY reason I’d consider this gun is for the weight savings...but twice the price makes it’s unlikely. I’d still carry a 38 special load.

    • @oldcop18

      .357 mag can achieve 100-150 FPS over a .38+P with the right loads from a 1.88" barrel. Worth it to some who can afford it, unlike yourself. Go be poor somewhere else.
