    It must be nice to live in a country where both treatments cost the same. Here Invisalign costs 4 to 7 times more than regular braces.

    Invisalign cost more at my orthodontist and since braces were already a burden for me, I couldn't justify the price difference. I didn't think I'd care about elastics, but it is kind of fun to choose the different colors and I was 31 when I got them on. I was most concerned with correcting my cross bite and I knew I would have to wear braces for a long time to do so, so I got ceramic on top, metal on bottom, and it was convenient. I don't think I looked bad...perhaps a bit young.

    What is it about Invisalign that makes it not so available/common on dental insurances compared to traditional metal brackets? Is it mainly because of the cost?

      In our province, orthodontic treatment whether brackets or clear aligners - they are billed as the same treatment. Many people who come to our clinic are just unsure of whether or not they have it. We typically give our patient the code we use for Invisalign and they can check with their Insurance company to see if they have any coverage!

    Don't make my mistake. Please find an Orthodontist. I went to a general Dentist to have Invisalign done years ago. Had so many problems after. Now I've opted for braces with an Orthodontist and the experience is completely different. Firstly because an Orthodontist is actually a specialist in aligning teeth. General Dentist just do a side course in Invisalign. It's crazy that their even allowed to do it.

    • @dezyandco5855

      Oh wow never heard of this, what kind of general dentistry provide orthodontic treatments?

    • @sonasp1961
      @sonasp1961 Před 2 lety

      @@dezyandco5855 Majority of General dentist's will offer Ortho, for example Invisalign, smilelign, inman aligner, 6months smile theres lots more. But if you check the Dentists profile you will see that they are not specialist Orthodontists. Instead they say"special interest" in orthodontics or that they have done short courses. These short term Orthodontic treatments may not always be in the best interest of the patient but the general dentist is likely to just say Yes so that they have a case, if something goes wrong you would end up being referred to an Orthodontist. An Orthodontist has already been a general dentist but they have to jump through so many academic hoops to become specialist Orthodontist including doing hospital placements. Hope this helps.

    I read that Invisalign moves the crown whereas braces move an individual tooth w/root included - more focused treatment. On/off trays sounds like punishment.

    • @peggybowndentistry1791
      @peggybowndentistry1791  Před rokem

      Hi EB! That's actually a really interesting topic. Invisalign does have the ability to move the roots with the teeth and does so quite easily! You CAN just tip the crowns if that is what the dentist decides to do with specific situations, but root movement is definitely an essential part of treatment that Invisalign does provide.

      I’m going through this process now. Here’s what I’d suggest.
      Go on Yelp, find the top 3-5 orthodontists in your area, then call them and see if they offer a free evaluation. Most do.
      They will take X-rays and walk you through your options. Most will happily do this for free because they want you as a client.
      Then you get multiple opinions, multiple options, you get to see how they run their office/business, and get to choose who is best for you.
      I had 2 consults today. It was very informative. Both were great, both gave 90% the same info, but there was a slight difference in their opinions of my options and likely outcomes.
      I will see 5 before making my decision. The reason for that is, I had a BAD dental experience years ago and fixing it took a LONG time.
      I’d rather take the extra time to find the best possible orthodontist.
      Good luck.
