- We stayed 3 nights at the Placencia Resort in Belize. We were super disappointed in our stay there. The views and reviews are based on our experience while staying at the Placencia Resort.

I'm super diappointed in your review My Husband and I hosted our wedding there last summer and we had an amazing experience I'm upset that you made the wonderful people that work there look horrible when they are absolutely amazing your review is the first bad review I've come across the food, service, room, and food were all excellent the only thing that I will agree on is they can do better communication with their shuttle service! It's sad that you are taking business away from such an amazing place!
Thank you, Ronnelle! We are glad you had a good time. We simply share our experience and it was obviously was not as good as yours. We are comparing our stay to many other luxury resorts we have stayed at and we did not enjoy our stay there. It is not okay not to be able to access your room, it is not okay to advertise a beautiful room on their website yet place us in a totally outdated room, it is not okay to not to be able to get pool towels.
She's only giving her experiemce...you can't get upset at a person guving their opinion.
Was just there last summer and had a awesome experience. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The Master suite I stayed in was excellent. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. Being Belizean myself it was a great way to experience my country on a resort. You gave such a bad review. I would hope this doesn't effect someone's livelihood. Always keep in mind what you say or do may effect other's.
I'm sure they will be fine. This is what happens when management keeps changing. It becomes problematic. I expected way more than what we got and so did most of the other guests that were there. Compared to all the other resorts we stayed this resort doesn't even come close, not by a mile. Glad you had a good time and a good experience.

After watching this, some stuff is nitpicky but alot of it is VALID. That master key is a no no. And also the bugs 🐜. The water, stove, all that is something that you don’t want to happen. Definitely if it’s called “Luxury.” “Luxury” is flawless. Good review. People nitpicked you because they didn’t watch the whole video.

My room also was the one front and center on the third floor and it was beautiful. It was like a little apartment even having to come thru the door to walk up the stairs to get to my door was so cool

I check in Sunday.. The master key is a serious concern. I have had experiences at hotels here in the U.S. where the key didn't work and I had to go back multiple times - thankfully it was in air conditioning and up and down on the elevator. I hope I don't have similar experiences. Had an event scheduled there that was moved to Turtle Island same company.. I wonder if this is why the event moved. Thx for sharing. I'll bring bug spray, a beach towel and my own pillow case. I have a two bedroom and two bathroom...
you did not say how much paid . I mean if it is 5 star you would expect over 200$ a night ? I see this place available for 64$ now.
We paid over $200 it depends on the season you go and also we were there for New Years.

Props for explaining your experience. So much sponsored content out there and flashy Instagram photography which can be at odds with reality
Helpful information. I think there are some major isues there with things that could be easily resolved. Some things that wouldn't bother me so much if it wasnt all a shambles and i see why your stay wasn't what it should have been. Such a shame because it looks beautiful around the outside of the resort. Maybe they should change luxury resort to hotel so people dont expect the luxury part. I dont get having the massive pool and no sunbed for everyone there to enjoy. Especially families. The key situation going back and fourth eight times and the master key is a big boo boo. Anyhow great review. Hopefully they will take on board the faults and fix them. Easily turned around if they make a solution and they don't just take it the wrong way and do nothing about it. Healthy criticism makes room for good improvements 😊

Makes me worried about our upcoming trip to Barbados. I hope we don't have a similar experience at the resort we're staying out.

Barbados is nice!!! The island is super safe! I would suggest staying in St. Lawrence to get a more island experience! Hope you have fun!

I'm a belizean and although I wasn't happy about the review I believe that your opinion matters. Hopefully the resort management sees this video and finds ways to improve their resort. I'm sorry that you guys had a bad experience at my country but you guys should know that not all the resorts are like that.

The worst is giving you a master key. That’s totally unacceptable. I’d have checked out and gone somewhere else if possible. Sounds like this resort needs new management and a total rehaul.

Great review. This is why I trust your reviews because it's not always sunshine and you tell it like it is.
I would NEVER stay at this Resort. It is clear the issues there are systemic. Management just doesn't give a damn. The tell-tale indication is that nasty bathroom right by reception. When a resort doesn't care about the front of the house, you know the back of the house is f'd up even worse.
The things you mention are not nitpicking. I don't expect to have water issues. I don't expect to have bug issues. I don't expect to have key issues. Towel issues. Food issues. Bathroom issues. On and on with this resort. The bug issues alone would have had me either switch rooms or checked out. Ants are bad enough, but those centipedes, a horror show for me.
It's like every menial encounter with this Resort is problematic. You can't get a beach towel. 20 lounge chairs for a resort of that size. You can't get into your room. I mean they even make ordering pancakes an ordeal. That Resort is so bad I would almost think it was stage for a prank show.
And if someone thinks these are nitpicking minor issues, fine you stay there. You give them your money for one headache after another. I'm taking my hard-earned money and staying somewhere else.
Personally the only way to salvage the reputation of this Resort would be for them to change management companies and do a full overhaul. But even then, who would risk their vacation staying there after hearing this
I stayed at this place when it was in the development stage, at least at that time the developer was Marco Caruso. It had major financial issues when they were trying to develop the place

There company trying to raise funds for the place out of Florida was even charged with fraudulent activity. I know cause Marco and this guy flew me out to the resort inn those early days to get me to raise funds.
I turned it down cause something didn't feel right. It was so much in her early phase I was the first person to stay in one of the rooms. At that time only the one I was in was complete, the rest of the rooms were still being made.
I remember them flying me to the island Ringo Star owned where they were going to develop into villas.

Your experience is Typical Belize. I suspect you have made the mistake of bringing US standards to a 3rd world country. There is no sense of urgency in Belize. “Don’t worry, be happy,” really is the Belize attitude. Perfection not really a thing here either.
All the other resorts we stayed at were excellent!

Some people complain about the dumbest stuff… why do you care about they beach towel wen you can bring one from your room? Why complain about it being 20 chairs wen there isn’t many people at the resort anyway? Wen I was there I was literally the only one in the pool 2 guys at the bar and 2 ladies in the chair. Bathroom again no biggie. Smh this resort was beautiful my room was beautiful, the cleanup lady even straighten my room up and lined my shoes up 😭 what hotel doing that?!

I stayed here and it was beautiful. I just didn’t like the food much rather go to town but it was a beautiful location
100% the location and the resort is beautiful we stayed that in the 1st 2min of the video and again later on. But there were many things that are not cool for a “5 star resort” we stayed in Belize for 2 months and went to 6 resorts Al of them AMAZING. Not this one.

Why didn't you actually film the issues as it was happening to you? You obviously do this on a regular basis. Just walking around the hotel and not actually showing in real time what you are experiencing diminishes the review for me. Everybody exaggerates.

This property looks OK but obviously no upkeep/updates daily. Wowww I think I would've left to go to another hotel.. Best to travel with sheets n pillowcases too ijs.
A lot of places were booked out for the New Years and we were excited about the beach party but it it was not as we expected either 😂
Place is very good. Clean. Staff is friendly. The review sounds shady and inconsistent. If I were a part of the team I would sue you for libel.
