Se titula "White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood" y se inspira en las “extended mixes” de los 80, tal como se puede apreciar en este primer single, el electrónico "Paranoiac Intervals/Body Dysmorphia", otro doble título. El líder de la banda, Kevin Barnes explica: “Dos cosas importantes ocurrieron mientras hacía White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood: me volví un paranoico de la realidad simulada y me enamoré".
Cuando habla de "la realidad simulada" se refiere al concepto expuesto en los escritos de James Baldwin para referirse a algo que todavía no se ha convertido en realidad, pero que tiene potencial para hacerlo. Kevin Barnes además es un individuo muy marcado por las relaciones con sus parejas
El nombre de la banda salió por un romance fallido entre Barnes y una mujer “de Montreal”, ahora de nuevo confiesa estar enamorado: "he llegado a un “punto de perdón a mí mismo hacia mi matrimonio fallido". A pesar de todo ello o precisamente por ello el nuevo material suena bailable y sin perjuicios.
