    Thanks for this great presentation of Dungeon Saga. Not dry and really insightful.
    Because I played yesterday in Star Saga first time (I never played Dungeon Saga) I see from your presentation that things you needed to hack here Mantic did in Star Saga from the start. Rules and components became very flexible. Hope company will make 2nd edition package for Dungeon Saga. I had lot of doubts, cause I played Descent before, but unnecessary. Star Sage plays very fluid way. Hollywood style. Fast and lot of action. This was quite a suprise. Pleasant suprice.
    Sandbox character of those games makes them nique. Companions turn them into narration engine you can bring new stories to the table. Wow!!! Incredible tool

      Chuczek Chuk Thanks for comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the vid. I have been on the fence about getting the sci fi version but this is interesting to know. From what I’ve seen on that one the art direction looks kind of plain and that isn’t helping to draw me to it either.

    • @TeeeCeee
      @TeeeCeee Před 5 lety

      @@GeekGamers01 Yeah art direction is very plain as you said. Next year Core Space from battlesystems.co.uk will be relased. It is story driven game also with good inbuilt DIY mode (I think story making part will be included in Kickstarter version of rules only but I can't be sure). It has 3d board and have much better art direction than Star Saga and great components. Maybe it will catch your attention more.
      Ronnie from Mantic said many times, boardgames for them are just entry games for wargaming. Because I didn't pledge for Star Saga I need to wait for Companion to be released for making own stories. Ehh.
      You have a quite a lot of miniatures for fantasy. You can always drop boardgames frames and go out, reaching for freedom miniatures games gives. For example: Rangers of the Shadow Deep, Frostgrave, games from Nordic Weasel Games. Simple rules, easy solo hack (if any needed) lot of great stories to tell.

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  Před 5 lety

      @@TeeeCeee I'd not heard of Core Space so thank you for calling my attention to that.
      It's funny that you think I have quite a few miniatures because I feel I have none! I really wish I had the time/patience/talent to paint (and thus collect) minis as I know it would be quite fulfilling to so solo work with them. I've been interested in Frostgrave and, recently, Rangers, but stayed away because of what I think I don't have.

      why not an armoured zombie with a loaded railgun then. On stilts. Waving the union jack. There are limits to random fun.

    I really appreciate the video. I actually enjoy this game once I just let go the idea that a lot of the rules are convoluted. Specifically the IO cards actions. I mean seriously, couldn't be more vague. I feel like this was not playtested.

      Ryan Stoned Thanks and I’m glad you enjoyed the vid. I tend to agree with you: the stuff did feel a little incomplete. I appreciate having it there, however, and overall the system still works if you are a hacking sort.

    Hi love your vids. what dungeon tiles and miniatures are you using for your doors, etc on your player board?

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  Před 5 lety +1

      All tiles, minis, and furniture you see came with the game, save the metal minis that are the room bosses. Those are from the original DungeonQuest. I received the doors and furniture painted (can't take credit for that myself).

  • @davewarrillow7415

    I have those miniatures, they are all from the original version of Dungeon quest by GW, awesome miniatures. As a solo game try putting your characters through the first mission alone.

    Hello, I only just brought this and its game companion, really enjoy the game, just a quick question, when moving minis, you freely moved through front arcs of opposing alignments, was this intentional? I liked your way of enhancing the overlords AI, I will adapt that system myself!👍

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  Před 4 lety +1

      Skinnyjean Thanks for the comment. Glad you like the overlord modification. I’m sure what I did was just a mistake. It can be distracting to film which can cause me to forget rules. I do use that rule whilst playing so if I didn’t here that was an error you noticed.

    Terrible card artwork and font size unnecessarily tiny. Too many hacks needed, too long set-up time. Too much interrupt during gameplay. Will avoid dungeon saga. And get yourself a dice tray.
