    As first games go mine was the worst, 4 years old, Holte End, Santa coming down and crashing into the stadium, ended up going home to my Mum saying "Santa died!"

    First Villa game was Villa v Walsall in a pre season friendly in the early/mid 2000’s. I was probably 7 or 8?
    My parents took me up to my grandparents for the morning, and on arrival my Grandad says to my dad, “Will you come and help me get some flowers from Bilston Market?”. I was dragged along, wearing my little Villa top as always.
    As we got closer to Bescot, I looked out of the car window and said to my dad and grandad (who probably had massive grins on their faces), “There’s loads of Villa fans, look!”.
    Still one of my fondest memories of football - pretty sure I got a autograph from Thomas Sorensen!

    i really don’t understand the buendia thing - we all thought bailey was overhyped last season and were looking to sell him and emi looked like our best player in preseason. i know it’s only preseason but we were playing quality opposition and it’s still a good indicator. i hope he’ll be fully fit for the next preseason and he can go again

    My first Aston Villa match was verses Man United in the League Cup semi-final 23rd December 1970. Villa fell behind to a Brian Kid goal but fought back to win 2:1 with goals from Andy Lockhead and Pat McMahon in front of a Villa Park home crowd of 58667. We were an old 3rd Division team then.

    My first Villa game was the 3-2 comeback vs Arsenal in the late 90’s. Lower Doug Ellis, about 3 rows from the back, right on the halfway line and I was 6 or 7.
    I only remember it because I thought Santa had died 😅

    Not sure everyone can remember their 1st game if they were young at the time. I remember being at the 1st replay of the 1977 League Cup final against Everton at Hillsborough. I was 5 years old at the time and sat in the seating area with my Mom and loads of Everton fans who gave me sweets. My Dad stood with his mates elsewhere in the ground. My point is, this was not my 1st game, being so young, I can't remember the earlier ones.

    My first game was 1997-1998 Villa Vs Bolton at Villa Park. My dad took me as we’d won 10 ten games on the bounce or something like that and we got battered 3-1. I have always been a bad omen which is why nowadays I prefer my armchair fan status. I think I’ve seen us win about 5 times at home in about 50 games over my lifetime. I have a tragic record there 😂

    I actually kinda want blues to win and get back to the premiership. No better fixture than villa v blues.
    I always feel bad that I don't particularly remember my first villa game or my first time at villa park. I watched a lot of football before villa, my first football game was notts county v Brentford. I watched a lot of Derby at the baseball ground and Forest due to my family. I remember forest beating villa at the city ground once and I was getting Michael oakes. I also remember seeing villa play Burton at Eton park very early on. I'm pretty sure my first villa park game was v Bolton but I can't really remember any detail.

  • @Javo_AV

    Right off the bat is a good lol Buendia is so overhated by some.
    But I do get the point about overrating players who aren't playing when things are not going well; however, things are going very well for Villa - we are 4th in the last 5 games, 10 games, this seasons PL table, and ever since Emery has come in, despite all the consistent injuries we have had to contend with this season (and incredibly dodgy referees in the last few months!!!)
    As John said, he was great in pre season. And he would have been starting at the start of the season 100% with JJ out. And got a lot of minutes regardless. He would be a great option for us, especially so right now. And certainly would have been a better option over Zaniolo (not hating on Zaniolo btw - Emi is a settled player in the side, Nico is not).

  • @Javo_AV
    @Javo_AV Před 2 měsíci

    A LOT of Blues fans are genuinely anti Villa over Blues supporters. If you're from Brum or the area, you're likely going to know plenty growing up. Most of them would happily see themselves get relegated if it meant we didn't get CL & didn't win the UECL. They'd probably be happy dropping out the EFL all together if it meant we got relegated again.

    • @anthonym8250
      @anthonym8250 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@ClaretBluePod It's clickbait when you sensationalise something that isn't a big deal, especially when it shows a player.... who we happen to need on the top of his game during the run in in a bad light. The title of the article is sensationalised, so although you can argue it's not clickbait it's definitely to get people to click. Bailey is nothing but respectful to the club in the interview and tries to swerve the question. The idea players from the Caribbean should be Villa through just because we pay their wages is nonsense in itself. It's a non story turned into a big deal, so much so that Sky even picked up on it and ran with the same nonsense that Bailey wants to leave. He even had to reply on SM to clarify what he meant, so obviously had some bad comments regarding the article the BM put out.. Well done

    Palestinian football players, officials and fans have censured FIFA for failing to sanction and ban Israel amid its continuing war on Gaza, where more than 31,000 people, including 13,000 children, have been killed according to health officials.
    The calls from Palestinians and their supporters for the sport’s world governing body to take actoin against Israel have grown in the past months, with comparisons being drawn with its instant and firm stance to ban Russia and Russian football clubs from all international football activities when Russia invaded Ukraine nearly two years ago.
