    ACCESS TO A NEW GAME AREA
    By following this video, you will get access to a new area in the game: there will be a fight waiting for Rambo at his own home base! Enemies here are at full alert all times, and seems the only thing to do here is trying to survive as long as possible - OR IS IT?
    What you need to do first is to complete the game once normally. Then, second time you need to follow the game steps shown on this video in order to access the new area in the north.
    A programming bug or a secret area left in purpose for players to find? Is there something else to do than just trying to survive? Watch the video, try it yourself with your Commodore 64 and feel free to share your findings and thoughts in the comments-field.
    Anyway, have fun playing this cool new game area!

    M-60 for open field killing. RPG and explosive arrow for clearing trees. Still remember after almost 40 years.

      Great game. One of the first games in which you needed to consider when to use a silent weapon and when it is time to use something more powerful (and noisy).

    Very cool. There was also a 'bad ending' I got once back in the day, but I cant remember exactly how i did it, I think I cut the guy free and got the chopper, but just flew to the border instead of rescuing the guys in the camp first. I have to replay it again.

      @@finnishretroguy9952 Just tried it, and my mistake. Doing what I said just triggers what you got in this video, endless waves of bad guys for breaking sequence. The real way to get the bad ending is to not free the POW tied up and just go directly to the helicopter.

  • @zachgaskins3731
    @zachgaskins3731 Před rokem +11

    Sounds like they didn't bother to code a restriction that prevents you from freeing the POWs before getting the helicopter, so the next time you get in it, it thinks you've already done that and starts you at the camp, and the next time you land it doesn't recognize that you've freed them and lets you walk around.

    • @perkl1234
      @perkl1234 Před 9 měsíci +2

      The restriction must be freeing the lone soldier and getting to helicopter, but one of the variables isn't reset when you start round 2. Very nice catch.

      Most C64 games either had sound or music, not a lot that had both back then. A lot of modern homebrew games do, but back then if you used all three channels for music, then it was practically impossible to use sound effects as well. Commando was the same way, as were the C64 versions of Ghosts n Goblins and Green Beret

      Also it seems possible to get Rambo to run with super speed, but so far I could never reproduce this effect in a controlled way. This is also somehow related to return + something else I have done. The run so far has stopped in the nearest tree, but could be useful "feature" in some places, if I just knew how to launch this effect when needed...
