4 years ago, I became homeless. 2 days later, I was watching CZcams while crashing at a friend's house for the night. This song was an ad before the video. I usually skipped ads but I kept listening. And then instantly found it again and listened again. And again. And again. Then Ryan and Dave. Over and over. I am man enough to admit that I cried for the first time in years. I listened to this song in my regular rotation over the course of 2 and a half years before moved playlists and forgot about this song. It's almost 2 years later, and I have a loving partner, a home, a car, and a good paying job. I stumbled on this song again while looking through my old playlists for a different song. I instantly had to listen to it again. And again and again. Thank you guys for helping motivate me to get through my toughest times. It still goes just as hard as that fist listen.

Then I heard the song: Brittle Boney Nicky a drunk on a random night. Nicky reminds me of my best friend, I felt like I wrote this song for him. Since then I know all your songs and know even though we don't know each other personally. Rare Americans catch on. I love you so much! thank you for giving me strength then and since then! Brittle Bones Nicky is the first song I heard from rare Americans, this song means to me the first step into discovering this fantastic band. Rare Americans, is now one of my favorite bands and hearing this song gives me some flashback to simpler times. 🤣

It's historically accurate and there is a segment on it called stupid deaths where people have to check into the after life at deaths desk. They give their name, when they died and cause of death. It's pretty funny and educational. And yes, it's all on CZcams to my knowledge.

the video starts out with someone saying "all rise" which is what you're told to do when a judge enters a courtroom, and then skeleton Nicky rises from his grave. The video goes on to show how Nicky grew up recieving judgment and sentences from people around him (Shifty, the police, and eventually an actual judge must've put him in jail), but throughout the whole thing he continues acting in a way that he deems right. It seems that throughout the song, Nicky is the only judge that matters in his life, even at the end saying "I give myself a pass", which is the final judgment he faces and the only one that really matters to him.
Edit: As a couple of people have mentioned in the replies to this comment, I think Brittle Bones Nicky 2 continues with the theme of Nicky refusing any judgement except his own. When God sends Nicky to Hell, Nicky rejects the idea that he was a bad person because he was a victim of God's injustice. When he's making the deal with God he also rejects the judgement of the chorus of people earlier who said that he's not crafty or tricky, and that he's alone. He asserts that no, he is crafty and tricky, and he's not alone because millions of people like him. And then the very last line serves to tell us that, despite everything that's happened in the song and every other judgement he's faced, he still thinks of himself as a good person and no one can change that. This seems to be a critical part of Nicky's character, and I'm interested to see how/if this will come up again in future songs.
