In this front porch vlog, I delve into the unsettling rise of crime in Nashville, spotlighting the recent knife attack on a punk rock bassist at a gas station. I share my own harrowing experiences from my time in L.A., reflecting on the chase that nearly caught me. Despite the charm and vibrancy of Nashville, current policies have not curbed the escalating violence, leading me to make a tough decision. Join me as I discuss the reasons behind my move from Music City to the Sunshine State of Florida. It's time for a change. Elvis has truly left the building. đžđïž

This is my new favorite channel. It's nice to hear people tell the truth and not worry about losing a future gig. This is why I live in the 80s, it was just a different for aspiring musicians maybe not the best time for some, but it was for me. It felt like you were able to make it in one form or another. He speaks the truth that most musicians will not say. Especially about the episode were he's talking about rock stars that dress up and when it's time to take the clothes off they can't play. That's 100% fact. I love that music, a ton of that music, but I listen to everything except rap and new country, what's the difference really. love this channel
Welcome brother! Time is too short for falsehoods and auto tuning. Time for a 100 proof shot of the truth. Thank you!
Came across your channel few weeks ago Brad, I'm 47 yrs old shredder myself! Love the stories keep em coming! I can't get enough how to you talk about country music, it's the nasaly sound that drives me nuts! Excited to see how your new chapter in Florida. Good luck with the move man! Yes, you are correct, you need to watch your ass pretty much in every city your in with the fentanyl/mental crisis in this country. I live here in Omaha was in a Target a few years back when active shooter wanted that location to die by suicide by cop! We should have seen this trend coming ever since Dimebag was slaughtered in 2004. Prayers go out to the bassist and the bandmates that had to witness such a thing.
Man you speak alot of truth here. Dimebag was one of my all time favorites. Just horrific.
These days we are living in Hua Hin Thailand where my wife is originally from. I wonât raise our daughter in the U.S. I play in Bangkok now where the music scene is awesome!. Iâve pretty much checked out of the U.S. except to visit my kids and grandkids. We still keep our place in FL for vacations there. I had an old friend who played trombone with Elvis in Vegas back in the day.
Man that sounds really cool! Wow I bet your friend had some cool stories .
it almost looks like that weâve lost a lot of the brass section đ and the big band sound đ let alone someone that sings live in concert without any autotune or vocal backing tracks .. peace be with đ
Great Stories âŠ.good travels Brad âŠglad you stayed outta the P arena. Hope you have landed safely in Fla đđžđ¶
Thank you!
The sad thing is, it is getting bad just about everywhere. Even where I am living at, the crime is catching up to cities two or three times it's size. I remember never feeling like my life was in danger leaving 2nd avenue at 3 or 4 am back in the early 90's. I didn't even feel that weird in some of the "high crime" areas of that day. Maybe it was my youth, but generally, I felt pretty safe. It is sad to see it get this bad. I hope the young man recovers. It so sad to see common sense go out the window. Once you have a family, you first duty as a father is to ensure their safety. I loved my time in and around big bad cities, but now, I just want my nights to be without the sound of police sirens. Keep the honesty coming Brad!
Yes no sirens or police copters. Man I have nightmares about that. You are so right.
@@badbrad It has compounded and gotten worse. I remember taking lessons in east nashville 94-96 and not really feeling all that unsafe. There were a few hidden gems out that way.
I hear ya. Itâs def changed so much
@@RemoWilliams-jg4yb lots of stuff in East Nashville now...but yeah....
Great message again. Keep on keeping on.
Thank you, I will
I rarely make comments but again I have to say you're the real deal.
Thank you. That is much appreciated.
Dig your channel. I can totally understand why you're leaving that place. Good luck in FLA â
Thank you Gary!
Right on brother. You are the Elvis of you tube story telling...and play a hell of a guitar.
thank ya vurry much

Incredible, when the music was real and the tickets were low dough.
I moved from the Portland area to a small town in Oregon 9 years ago. Portland used to be quite charming. Cheers Brad!
Cheers to you!
Nashvile and middle and east Tennessee use to be quite charming. As Brad says, Nashville went down quick, via "growth" and greed.
@@perfumegooseNo, it went down from becoming blue and woke. Itâs known as Trashville for a reason
Portland was a sewer when I lived there in the mid 80s. It was just horrendous, just evil. I don't even like to drive through there now.
Man that sucks
Another excellent and important addition to your video library brother! Safe travels. My go to road trip music always includes FBB-The Gilded Palace of Sin and Gramâs masterpiece, Grievous Angel.
Thank you!!
Anyone told you how awesome you are today?!? Really digging the channel, thanks. Have a super day!
You rock!
If you're thinking of buying a condo or house in Florida make sure you know property tax or HOA fees you're going to have to pay. They've skyrocketed along with home and flood insurance...if you can actually find a provider, car insurance and all other expenses. There are some good videos on CZcams explaining the situation. Many people are in deep financial trouble in the free state of Florida. Best of luck and I hope things work out!
yes we are factoring that in.....thank you
It is awful what happened to that fellow musician. Touring musicians now need to add street smarts to the top of their essential skill set. I'm thankful, and I'm sure you are also, for the times potential bad situations on the road let us pass on by and stay safe.
Yes got to keep your head on a swivel.
have a great move Brad to your new place.
Thank you!
Been enjoying this porch series Brad! You will definitely find a gig situation in Florida, and will be probably a lot less stressful. #YachtRock! Safe travels man.
That's the plan!
Canât put my finger on it, but Iâm loving this guy
Thank ya vurry much.
I'm sure I've worked sound production when you were in Trick Pony in Wisconsin and Iowa somewhere! Lol. I was a sound engineer with The Back Home Boys Band a regional band from Wisconsin. We played the Country festivals in Cadott and Oshkosh a few times. Hope you have a save trip!
Thank you! Yes indeed I bet we did. That was a fun time with that group. Best to you!
Looks like you made the right choice. I hope your drive is stress free and fun. Yeah, cookie cutter country music is hard to take for the most part. I can only put on Gram Parsons when im in the mood. One hundred years from this day........
Yes Gram was awesome!
âWonât you scratch my itch sweet Annie Rich and welcome me back to townâ
I worked Tim & Faiths show years ago. And, a nanny took care of their kids on that tour. I just remember seeing how extravagant their dressing rooms were (basically), etc.. idk man, something about the whole vibe just left a bad taste.
On the other hand, I worked Sara McLaughlin and there were (quite few years ago), her, her kids sitting on a rug, & her husband just watching tv, maybe an hour before show time. So.... idk. That was interesting to see. Actually, the only time I've ever seen that working shows.
I hear ya there....coddled perhaps?
Man I wish the best for you and your family I will b OTAY peace out safe driving đ
Thank you
It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
And I really have enjoyed my stay
But I must be moving on

25 years ago I was on vacay in Key Largo. Popped into a music store, dude asked me where I'm from, I said Nashville, well, he was disillusioned with Nashville is to say the least. He moved to FLA and was working the music store days and playing local at night.
Wow
I had to break up my viewing this episode in between my MIDDLE AGED chores and rain storms. After I left Nashville, it was about six years before I started playing again. I made some great money, but I DID notice the crime started to increase. It got a little weird sometimes loading my gear in my truck 3 or 4 am. You have to be vigilant.
keep your head on a. swivel
@@badbrad Trust me, I wouldn't be binge watching the videos if you didn't have good content. Keep it up bro!
@@RemoWilliams-jg4yb Thanks brother!
Willie put out an album a few years back (2015?) that had a line âppl singin about dirt roads theyâve never been downâ It was a jab at pop country. I recall seeing the Dixie Chicks walking around downtown (I lived in Antioch) My roommate paid around 7K to have his demo shopped by a industry guy promising fame. It was so alien to me, being a potheaded picker/studio rat at the time. These days you gotta carry pepper spray (Sabre gel mini) and keep a 10ft radius Safe travels!
Willie is the man!
Running is the best form of self defense. Idc how big and bad you are, you might be able to whip some dudes ass but that dudes two buddies Smith and Wesson are undefeated. You never know what someoneâs got in their pocket or waistband or what drugs theyâre whacked out on. Honestly guys, get out of the cities. They look way too much like escape from ny for my taste. Congratulations on the move to Florida. Hopefully you have a future of good gigs and time on the beach!
Fingers crossed. I am hopeful for the future.

yes indeed God Bless.
I'm not sure if you've considered this Brad, but in Nashville, your a big fish in an ocean. Down here in Florida, you will be a whale shark in a small pond. You level of virtuosity is not as common here, as it is there. If you're considering following your career path, I think you picked the right place. I'm sure you, and family will be fine. Rock onđž. ( Excuse me... I meant to say "WAIL SHARK". You, and Elvis are both welcome here. Rock onđž.
Man I really appreciate that. Iâm just hoping to find some good players to work with. Itâs good musicians who elevate me.
Dude if your 55 come down to the Villages, plenty of opportunities for musicians and no crime. I lived in Madison TN while working at Sam Ash and the neighborhood was so shady you had to have your head on a swivel but I bet itâs much worse now, unfortunately this has always been part of the Nashville scene look at what happened to Stringbean.
So true. Probably will end up playing the Villages.
To Texas Brad! Austin music scene is always cookin.
Already in Florida
That's crazy your first memory of Nixon is that image. It's mine as well, but I was born in 77'. Also from VA. When I first saw it in the early 80's into the 90's, there was no explanation behind it. For most of my life I thought he was celebrating as he got on that chopper, it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized he was essentially being removed from office. What's even crazier is the picture of Nixon and Elvis shaking hands and the story behind it.
Wow it was a powerful image. I used to watch a lot of tv and of course then there were only three channels and every channel else had it on. Anddd the Elvis I was a huge Elvis fan.
@@badbrad Elvis was one of a kind from a time that longer exists except in our heads. Good luck in Florida, man, Be careful, it's hot and they have real life dinosaurs there.
Yes they do! Thank you.
Sorry to hear about the attack. Locally we have crime problems I would probably attribute to drugs.
That is it. Man sucks for that young man.

Man I hear you. I can only hope for the best.
Thatâs what happens when the local officials are woke, but I fault the people for continuing to voting for the same people, always practice situational awareness, there are predators everywhere
I donât do politics but it is what it is.
Itâs not woke, itâs Capitalism. Crime is higher in Red states.
That's crazy how the audio and video suddenly went out of synch at 13:40.
Yeah I did my best to try and sync it up but the footage got off sync. The message was powerful and thought it needed to be heard. Kinda gave it a 70âs kung fu movie feel towards the end.

Facts
Diversity destroys everything it infects.
Someone else should always help the homeless. People have their own to take kare of. People don't have the time and many homeless don't want "help". Whatever "help" means. Places that cater to them get more of them. It is just the truth.
Now letting lawlessnes prevail? That has been a choice over time.

@@badbrad I ended up back home in upstate New York by the Canadian boarder. After I realized that I wasn't making any money in Nashville as a musician I decided to become a filmmaker and it is definitely a lot more lucrative. Always make sure I deliver the best results I can because I know what it means to have something like that given to me as a musician that is having a hard time in a world that doesn't really care about them. I'm developing a theory that the mainstream, modern country music genre, as represented by artists like Tim McGraw, is mainly targeted at women. Granted, I'm no expert, but every fan I've met is female. It's like The Hallmark channel of music.
No theory, it's 100% true. Interesting that some genres like metal are almost exclusively dudes in the audience whereas modern country is definitely "pussy music". That's why there are relatively few female country artists these days... cuz in general, chick's hate on other chicks.
Yeah sippy cup country for moms.
It wasn't just country.....every classic rock band in the 70s & 80s changed their tune in the 80s to pop and softer lyrics, so to speak. think Def Leppard, Journey, Van Halen, Aerosmith, etc.
Bring the girls to the yard and the boys will follow.
The power ballad changed rock almost overnight.
But some bands still had tons of women before the soft parade. DLR VH back in the day had a huge female following. Poison had more women at their shows than anybody before the power ballad. But yeah we age and often look for a softer place to land our ears.
