I personally would never allow treated boards to touch soil that I will be growing vegetables in that will be consumed. I know they say that modern day treated lumber is safe but I just don't trust that is the case for all treatment plants. I've built several raised beds and use ceder on mine. They do look good.
Have you built any of them lately. Cedar is worth more then gold. If I had my choice I would use cedar too.
@@MakersLane I haven't built a planter but outdoor furniture and I think ceder costs are regional because in my area it's gone up but no more than anything else. I can promise you this cancer treatment is way more expensive. I'm not trying to say that today's treated lumber can give you cancer but the old stuff was proven unsafe.
I have heard the old stuff was pretty bad! I’m sure there is a debate that the produce in the grocery is just a bad.
@@MakersLane Maybe but it's regulated for consumption wood isn't. I'm just giving my opinion that I have acquired over years of wood work and 30+ years in the chemical industry. I would think ceder pickets in place of the treated boards would be better all the way around.
