Yeah Toranaga had all the sauce to conquer the 7 kingdoms and what not, that's cool, BUT the best part about this scene is as soon as Yabu began to take his life and become "The Dead Man" only then does he realize what Toranaga actually said. As the saying goes "Why tell a dead man the future?" the two frenemies just smiled before his end...
I find it particular interesting he is using a tachi, not the typical shorter wakizashi that is used for second. Essentially he is not really doing a second, but really executing his first enemy for war.
@@SifuSatoru. Someone once told me the same thing. That everything we've ever done and will do we're gonna do over and over again. And Yabu and Toranaga will be on that hill again... and again... and again... forever.
It was definitely Yabushegi's personal assistant. In the early scene there he is lurking in the background, listening. That little detail's for the person who watches it multiple times.
I don't think so. If you mean the specific phrase here, we already know Omi sides with Toranaga in the last episode and gives the letter describing Yabu's guilt. He could have easily at that point just spilled everything he knew about Yabu to gain favor and show loyalty. Nothing really hints at Yabu's personal assistent being remotely treacherous...
Tokugawa Ieyasu was served by multiple ninja (shinobi) clans including the famous Hattori Hanzo and many other Iga and Koga shinobi branches. He was a very tricky man.
Nah, it's Yabushegi's assistant. The one he hands his will to in the final episode. You can see him in the first clip hiding behind Yabushegi in the frame.
I know many people wanted & exoected a CGI orgy & eye candy spectacle of a battle rivaling the Battle of the Basterds but I think the majority of viewers, even those wanting a battle of gratuitous violence & shameless exaggerated stunts were pleasantly surprised by the emotional exposition & story telling of the finale. The dream within a dream sequence, the flashbacks, flash-forwards, the callbacks, etc made the finale potent & viceral even though much of the episode was dialogue & lacked the excessive kinetic action we have grown so used to & expect. Most really enjoyed this superlative finale because it was executed flawlessly, but the entire cast from the leads like Hiroyuji Sanada, Anna Sawai & Cosmo Jarvis were matched or even surpassed by the incredible work of Tommy Bastow as Father Alvito, Shinnosuke Abe as Buntaro & Tadanobu Asano as Yabushige. Everything in Shogun was top notch from the cinematography to the costumes to the sets, & of course the incredibly story & script but it was all brought to life & tied together by this incredible cast of actors who didn’t just act they inhabited these roles. It felt like we were watching a historical documentary. Absolutely incredible. First this cast & the show better receive some awards for their work. Second some of these lesser know actors should see their stars rise to a new level of stardom. Actors such as Tommy Bastow who played Father Alvito & Shinnosuke Abe who played Buntaro were actors I was unaware of & had never seen prior to Shogun but I was blown away by their work.
Soo did Omi tell Toranaga about everything? I mean Yabushige only spoke to three people about his plans Ishido, Omi, and that guy he always ask to write down his final will.
Watch Tadanobu Asano older films like survive style 5 plus(+) or Funky Forest, pretty hilarious and mindfuck..I became a fan of his from these films and of course including his Hollywood movie such as Thor(Ragnarok I think) although he only have brief screen time and now Shogūn. Guitar Brothers rule 😂! 🤘
Yabushige didnt tell Toronaga about the ship because he assumed Toronaga would be sentenced to death, and therfore there was no point in telling him the truth. Toronaga escaped certain death and he found out that Yabushige kept the information away from him and he also heard what Yabushige said about him being a dead man. So when Yabushige was the one facing certain death Toronaga threw the same line back at him, letting Yabushige know that Toronaga knew all along.
There's nothing special. The show is full of phrase repetition. And I mean A LOT. Even when Anjin says "it's like pissing in the wind" ,when trying to recover his ship in the final scene, is the repetition of the same sentence said by Yabushigue at the same shore.
fuck! I missed this detail!!
As did I
There is also the repetition of the phrase "be the last one to hold him/her" from the first episode during this episode - linking them together.
That one made me 😢
Also "it's like pissing in the wind" ;) and many others.

That is very interesting info, Sir. I just knew about that
Where did you read that? I always thought kaishakunins used regular katanas. Genuinely curious
@@bernardomartorelli6676you thought right. The comment above is mistaken
It looks long to be a regular katana, but I’m no expert 🤷🏻♂️🙏
@@mcronrn you're right, Toranaga wears the sheath with the blade pointing downward, which indicates it's a tachi rather than a katana.
Now throw in time is a flat circle.
I don't think many people will understand this

It is his PA, he was there when Ishido visited Yabu at Osaka and Toranaga called him out on that and Yabu looks confused.
damn yabu's guy behind is an inside man of toranaga too, he truly master of subterfuge he had so many spies.
Tokugawa Ieyasu was served by multiple ninja (shinobi) clans including the famous Hattori Hanzo and many other Iga and Koga shinobi branches. He was a very tricky man.
Good find!
Omi is spy, well played.
His uncle schooled him well on how to play both sides.

nice video, but the extra music is extremely distracting.
What goes around come around how ironic
Did his son tell him what he said? Is that why he said it back to him?
Someone talked that's for sure. Now Toranaga's coldness and Yabushige's dissapointed attitude make a lot more sense.
My guess is Yabushige's personal assistant in the background was Toranaga's spy
Nephew*
Yabishige’s assistant has been telling Toranaga everything all along
Yabushinge just realise he and Toranaga were kinda the same
can someone explain it to me as if I was really stupid ?

Lord Toranaga to Captain Jack Sparrow if they would meet.
And you cringey already started earning bread and butter on that phrase 😅
