      Yes, Malaysia with Malay accent, Indonesia with Sundanese accent. In my opinion, Indonesian and the Philippines have slightly different accents.

      @ARINA FANILLA Bruneian used Malay Language because they also part of Malay Sultanate Kingdoms. Malay not only live in Malaysia but all over Malay archipelago including The Philippines. And yes, the biggest Catholic country in Asia which is The Philippines was once a Muslim kingdom before the Spanish inquisition.

Malay saying terima kasih convert in english became thank you same meaning with salamat in tagalog language....     As a Thai native speaker, I love Filipino and Myanmar languages especially when they sing. It sounds so melodic. Lao is closely related to my Thai with sweet vocabs and softer accent than so I understand spoken Lao also.

    Lao and Thai sound so fun, I love it!
    Vietnamese sounds cool, also does Mandarin.
    Tagalog sounds like Spanish with some English words, I like it.
    Tetum sounds like the Portuguese spoken in African countries like Angola and Mozambique, in my opinion.
    Timorese Portuguese sounds similar to Brazilian Portuguese (with a very slightly European accent).
    Tamil = tongue twister.

    As a Muslim minority in the Philippines, I somehow understand Bahasa Melayu and Indonesia. It's very similar to my native language, Maranao or Meranao (people of the lake). I also speak Visaya and Tagalog.

    The Philippines is only Asian Hispanics from the Pacific with ignored native Filipino Español speakers, same with Timor Leste but less known with native Portuguese speakers! This also means that any country that has strong influences in terms of Language, Culture, History, Heritage and Values originating from the Iberian Peninsula where Castillian Spanish and Portuguese is the dominant language! Also both Las Filipinas and Timor Leste are somewhat similar in some aspects very unique in Asia. The Español and Portuguese are both vulgar language that is a descendant of the Latin language that The Philippines and Timor Leste share which could not be erased or forgotten. 👌

Also my native language has many Español in it and it's called Waray a member of the Visayas language family with Hiligaynon/Ilonggo, Cebuano and Boholano as it's sister language. I think it has something to do with the similarities between Spanish and Portuguese language that greatly influenced the language of Philippines and Timor Leste

    It is easy to categorize them. Indo-china a.k.a mainland southeast Asias language are very similar ( Thai, Viet, Lao, Myanmar, Cambodia ) and maritime southeast Asia are also similar to each other ( Indonesian, Tagalog, Malaysian)

      that's because the pronunciation of the letter "R" must be clear in Indonesian, while the letter R is not clear in malaysia.
      example:

    Language official in East Timor is Portuguese and tetun but also we can speak Indonesia 🇮🇩 language and Malaysia

    Wow.. I was very surprised about the language of Timor Leste, it has Portuguese influence. Thus, Filipinos will understand much of the words they use because we have a Spanish influence in our language too.. Portuguese and Spanish are almost the same I believe.
    But Bahasa Indonesia seems very interesting language. I think the words are very easy to pronounce. 😊

      FALSE. Portuguese have very different sounds and pronunciation compared to spanish. Maybe in its written form the languages seems similar but you will not understand its spoken form.

      If you take individual words all latin languages Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French etc.. have similar words that you can de recognize but when it come to speaking probably Italian a e Spanish are more similar .

    wow I'm a filipino and i understand some words in timor leste, there are some words that similar to filipino, like: "partido, gobierno, progreso, democratico, presenta..." (spanish / portuguese)

      @@angelofreitas4359 actually, not portuguese but spanish. we've been colonized by spain for 333 years and even today, we have 20-33% of spanish vocabularies in filipino language

      East Timor Colony by Portugese for 450 years, than gouverment put the Portugese language as a national language with Tetum in east Timor😊

      @East Timor 2017: Having a foreign language,portugese,as your second tongue is an advantage. You have greater opportunity for global employment,business,and what not. The millions of skilled and professional Filipinos,for instance, enjoy job opportunities abroad because they can at least communicate in english (our second language or the lingua franca for some filipinos who cant speak well in Tagalog
