Actually it could also be heard in other countries too! Like China, France, Vietnam, Thailand, Lao, etc. But specifically in the states, Wisconsin is also another place where a lot of Hmong people live and speak the language. There are more states but yes, a big majority of us live in California and Minnesota.

I got 4 out of seven. I have never heard a Malaysian person speak before in their native tongue. I'm so mad at myself for loving Vietnamese food and I couldn't make out the languages. I know some Thai but I definitely confused the Cambodian for Thai.

Vietnamese sounds tougher and shorter. Thai speakers on the other hand tend to sketch the vowels longer than the Vietnamese like the “double A sound”. The way we do tones are different, too.
Viets: raise high, then go flat
Thais: drop low, then go flat
This way makes Vietnamese sounds slightly pitchy especially in the northern accent

Here’s a thing with the Philippines. There are multiple languages in the Philippines that are super distinct from one another. that lady is from the Philippines. She speaks Cebuano. But if she talked to someone from the Philippines who speaks another Philippine-based language such as Waray or Kapampangan or Ilocano, she will not understand them. She may pick up very faintly hints of some words but they can’t have a fluent conversation with them at all.
