    Having started supporting Arsenal around the mid 80s, since then I have witnessed 5 league trophies being won by the Gunners, but nothing beat the 89, not even the Invincible. For a simple reason - I always love the underdogs. And at the night of Anfield 89, Arsenal were a massive underdog. In fact, nobody gave George Graham's young guns a prayer. To beat the mighty Liverpool to the title with a last minute league-title-winning goal was like a fairytale. From that night on, I started to believe in miracle. And as long as you keep faith, never give up, impossible is really nothing.

      Exactly, I don't support Arsenal but I 100 percent agree with you. Liverpool had a formidable home record then, and Arsenal had to win by 2 goals, and Liverpool hadn't lost at home by that margin for 3 years. (And the reason I know that is because I checked it cause I wasn't born then, but I happen to know it). I support Chelsea and after the 2012 UCL win against Bayern Munich in Munich I really started to believe that anything could happen, so when we played City in the final in May, even though we were underdogs I had a feeling we could do it and we did.

  • @neilbooth8510
    @neilbooth8510 Před 7 lety +19

    What was great about it, was everyone joined in. Even Spurs fans were up for a beer after a London team, even us, had finally knocked Liverpool off their perch. The scenes everywhere were amazing. I lived just outside Kingston (upon Thames), and as we went out to meet our friends in the pub to celebrate, there were big groups of people walking along singing 'champions' even there, in the heart of suburbia! Arsenal didn't just win it for North London, they won it for all of London. It's unlikely, as Merseyside won it a record seven times in a row back then, that feeling of relief, of joy for everyone, will ever happen again. Nor, despite the desperate Skyspin over City's triumph, will we ever have a Championship finish like that again.
