- Bes was a widely worshipped god in ancient Egypt. His name means "Cat" in the Nubian language in Upper Egypt. Bes is represented as a dwarf with large head, goggle eyes,
protruding tongue, bowlegs, bushy tail, and usually a crown of feathers. He is the protector of children and pregnant women. Bes also came to symbolize the good things in life - music, dance, and life pleasures.

Laura, I have relied on cut and paste to Word Doc from Google Images! for my DIY Bes statues! With a little embellishment in Word or PowerPoint, they work for me. I notice that both eBay and Etsy have some but they are certainly more pricey than my "workarounds"! 🧡

The Bes tribe of Egypt did exist....They were provoked by Shishak to fight in another world....They left women, children, and old men at the foot of Mt. Ineri on Flores Island in a fleet from Tire, and headed north through Yap Island. They were defeated in a battle at Mt. Koya and were annihilated, but several people remained. Through artificial insemination, we left descendants with local women until today.... 😄
