- A unicycle saddle is not comfortable. Let's just put that out there. It's small and not something you'll be interested in sitting on for a long period of time.
However, there's ways to make the seat so much more tolerable and even.... well... unnoticeable to ride on!
This video lays out some common reasons for the seat not being comfortable so you can address them as you see fit and also includes tips on how to deal with the discomfort even if you can't pinpoint exactly what is making you uncomfortable.
The unicycle seat can definitely be tolerable and you can definitely enjoy long rides and the key is in this video.

Was just thinking about suggesting this because this is exactly me!
Totally. I definitely can afford to get more comfortable in the seat myself but usually my legs gas out on long rides before and seat irritate puts me out of commission
Great video mate, as always. Thank's so much for doing this one Dan. Great idea about the uni gaming chair though, will start looking on ebay for one. Love your work :)
Thanks, Ken. I hope it’s helpful. There was a comment above that mentioned different products you could get too and I didn’t go into that so there’s also options with that.
Haha!! A unicycle saddle gaming chair would be such a sight!
Some additional comments from personal experience.
Chafing on inside of thighs:
This was quite bad for me when I first started. It instantly went away when I switched to high quality cycling pants plus stretchy over pants(in cold weather). I think the key thing is that the material next to the skin fits tight, but also stretches (as in cycle pants).
Crotch pressure from saddle:
This was more difficult to deal with on long rides. This is something that the body adapts to after a lot of rides. Padded cycling pants helped a lot. Lifting out of the seat periodically for a short break helped a little. Its good to experiment with different saddles, since everyone is different. I prefer the Nimbus Stadium Saddle, since it is fairly flat, not too wide. I also like the Nimbus Air saddle for long distance. However, I've noticed a lot of other riders prefer KH saddles.
I agree with you that saddle comfort is very important and can quite often be the limiting factor on a unicycle ride.
Thanks for your informative video.
Very good points. I didn’t talk about it equipment at all but those are good to mentioned. Thank you for filling in the gaps!
Good tips on getting comfortable in the saddle. Can you do a video on how to ride down steep hills using the hand brake. I still struggle when going downhill. Not sure how to apply the brake to stay balanced on the unicycle.
Omg yes of course! I can get on this fairly soon. I was just about to start filming for this actually. Great minds think alike

Thank you for the suggestion
PS, awesome pooch too
She’s the best dog. I love her so much
