- MasterChef Canada S05 E03 Full Episode: The home cooks faced their first off-site team challenge, in which they had to prepare a hearty meal for 101 Habitat for Humanity volunteers, who were building homes at a construction site. Split into two teams, they were given only two hours to create a family-style meal using various cuts of chicken, with hungry volunteers deciding their favorite meal by casting votes. As the winner of the last challenge, Jonathan was given the option of picking either the protein or his team first - he chose to pick a team member first. Michael V. chose the dark meat, leaving the white meat to Jonathan. The Red Team won the challenge; Kaegan's abrasiveness and poor communication were cited as reasons for the Blue Team's defeat.Subscribe: / masterchefworld
Returning to the MasterChef kitchen to face his first pressure test, the judges gave Michael V. the choice to save the most deserving member of his team, including himself. After a long deliberation, he decided to save himself. As a result, Michael G., Nadia, Kaegan, and Reem faced the pressure test, in which they had 80 minutes to replicate a four-layered Black Forest cake with two layers of mousseline pastry cream filling and a layer of chocolate ganache filling in the middle. Nadia and Michael G. made the two best cakes, both safely advanced forward in the competition. Reem struggled with the pressure at the start and produced a cake that was raw in the middle. Kaegan forgot to put sugar in his cake batter and ended up serving a one-layer cake after he dropped one layer on the ground and the two remaining layers became soggy after they were soaked in sugar syrup. As a result, Kaegan was eliminated.

Beccy had the whole anime protagonist vibe all way through, from being the youngest, a prodigy, almost being eliminated, having a sworn enemy who later joins her side, and finally winning it all.

It's beautiful how Michael V gets a chance to choose only one among his own team and he chose himself, but after tremendous thinking. He sticked on and called out his belief on being a team, both on and out of his firefield. Anyone can say he's selfish, but he became his truest and selfless when the kind man inside him considered himself too a person that deserves help, that deserves good. Hats off to him for desperately thinking that choosing one from the rest of the team will be hugely unfair as a captain and hence for saving himself because yea sometimes firefighters would also liked to saved; if they are given a choice. ❤

I still think that it's extremely unfair that people with allergies have to cook with their allergens which can possibly kill them (fe Thea) but here they allowed someone to use different ingredient (especially the one they are not even required to taste) just because of religion. You cannot choose your allergies but in the free world you are allowed to choose your beliefs.
I think it's because she cannot even touch alcohol either. Not just consume it.
I don't know how to feel about it either because like you I feel it's unfair here how they accommodated for a religious/lifestyle choice. Yet, someone with life-threatening allergies still has to handle and cook with their allergen, just they can't taste it.
I will say, in their defence, often the times Thea got Shellfish was usually done by a twist from one of the other contestants. So the judges never forced her to use them as part of the main challenges from what I can remember... unless I'm remembering wrong. 🤔
Being a muslim myself ill say that it is unfair with people for allergies but we should shame or let the people with religious beliefs get blamed for simply following their beliefs. At the end it all comes up to the main producers of the show and judges to make these rules not the chefs working (sorry for my bad english)
