- Great views of the Phoenix Metro and the Arizona desert landscape! Awesome Rolls Royce RB-211 engine sound! Beautiful clear day in the desert! Great overview of the airport! Lots of Southwest and US Airways planes here! Watch as we depart from runway 07L and climb straight out to the East! Filmed on US Airways in the first row of the economy cabin! Flight 1208 to Philadelphia. 2/12/10.
I'm an Airbus fan but nothing beats the power and the sound of the 757, beautiful bird.
Thumbs up to :- the cameraman, the weather, the 757 for being the most elegant plane in the sky, and to the RB211 for saving Rolls Royce's bacon and great spool up power for take off with sound to match!

The RB211s, from the L1011 to the B757. The best noise to have if you want to take a nice nap. I especially loved them on the L1011s while riding in the last few rows, I could sleep wonderfully all flight long with the Number 2 humming along making the flights wonderful (with the only issues being off-loading at arrival at the gate and taking a long time getting some 400 odd passengers disembarked). Good memories and thank you for sharing.
It shows how the power to weight ratio evolved, even from 1970 when three RB211s powered the DC-10's equal, the Lockheed Tristar, to the 1980s when that same engine powered the narrower bodied, lighter 757!

I love the sound of those engines! 757 is definitely one of my favorite planes. I also love landing and taking off at Sky Harbor. Arizona is beautiful. Great vid!

Oh, beauty. Thank you so much for posting. Was on a 757-200 out of Phoenix about a week ago, for a vacation in Kona, HI. The climb out was absolutely amazing. Very high and very fast, with an astonishing view of the whole city and the mountains. I love the 757-200. Very comfortable and reliable aircraft.
The spool up is a thing of beauty.
Nice video. 757's have the highest thrust to weight ratio among commercial jets. Number of years ago I timed a 757 take off - from full throttle to wheels up at 17 seconds ! The plane was accelerating so fast I could feel the seat backrest pressing hard against my back. Within seconds it was airborne pointing steeply into the sky.

I happened upon this video a day after it was uploaded back in 2010. It started me down the long rabbit hole of aviation content like Flight Chops, Sam Chui, Jeb Brooks, Dennis Bunnik, etc. I always come back every once and a while to watch this. Thanks for such a great video and in turn getting me in to aviation vlogging.

It's because of the pressure differences between the front and rear of the intake fan. The more altitude the aircraft gains, the quieter the engine gets. That's because of the cold thin air. Jet engines love the cold thin air. That's also why that sound is more muffed in the winter time. I can tell how cold it is by listening to the sharper sound of the jets that fly over my house from MSP.

I'll go further back and mention that I miss our state based airline company, America West Airlines. I miss watching their 747's coming in and taking off or seeing the three of them at the hanger getting serviced at certain times.

Satur 737 They merges with American. American seems to have preserved a few of their planes with the us airways livery, but the airline itself doesn’t exist anymore. I miss it too tbh.

South Mountain was my favorite spot...the peak with all of the radio towers. Drive to the top and you can see the entire city. But my favorite activity was to go out in my backyard at night and catch scorpions. I had an aquarium full of them! lol

Amazing sound
When I heard the same sound at 2:01 on my flight from CLT-DTW on MD-88, I freaked out! I thought the engine failed!!
Same with my mom
That sound is heard only when sitting in front of the engine and is caused by the blades going in supersonic speed.
@@everythangtexas He was talking about the engine roar in general not just the power down. You can hear the roar the moment the pilots throttle up for take off from the ground right into the air. What else would be causing the sound? The speed of the blades has everything to do with buzz from the engine and you do indeed need to be in front of the engine to hear the buzzsaw noise.

I just flew on a 757, man they sound amazing.
I personally love the afterburner noise because it gives me goosebumps (sorry for sounding like a nerd)!
got this plane on X-Plane 10 and it climbs like the bat out of hell, its spectacular when loaded lightly with the 777 a little behind in the takeoff perfomance
757 is often called the Cheetah by pilots.
It has the Highest Power to Weight Ratio of any commercial airliner.
And Power is Altitude.
This video is very reminiscent of the U.S Airways flight from PHX to KOA on the 757-200 back in June 2013.

I flew this flight when American West flew from PHX to PHL. I flew an Airbus 319. It is a great view most of the whole flight. AZ, NM, CO, TX, KS, MO, IL, IN, OH, PA.

Best airplane i ever flew , so powerful, so good sound, quiet in cabin, perfect size and air stable. it feels like a new plane. I am fligthscared but i felt very safe on boeing 757. I have flew dc10, airbus a330, being 737 and they all suck, especially boeing 737

Everything Texas I recently took multiple flights on 757s and really the only time I could hear the engines was on climb out. During cruise it was almost silent except for the crying baby onboard
