  • How to Train Speed - What Makes You Fast? This is part two of presentation on speed development. Part one was all about the Psoas muscle, while the next segment will be about max velocity.
Much more to come over the next few weeks!
Too many times, in amateur athletics, an athletes career gets cut short based on the fact that they are simply just not fast enough to play “at the next level”. Whether it is a 40 yd dash, 60 yd dash or a big vertical jump, we aim to get you the times and heights you need to turn heads and get noticed.

This series has been phenomenal! Understated genius, sorely needed in this field

Oh wow. Is that for real? They stop them sprinting without supervision? All good with those collisions but they can’t sprint? That is proper insane

Often times NFL contracts can be voided if they get hurt training outside of their training facility, on their own, etc.

@@freddymatt9614Yeah, I get that. We have the same in soccer in the UK. So paranoid of injury they often don’t go near max velocity

Your starting position determine what your form will be your form determine what your mechanics will be if you in a crouch position one foot in front of the other foot your form and mechanics will be bad

Which sprinters are you talking about? Most elite sprinters have a good angle coming out of the blocks and utilize low-heel recovery which was popularized by Maurice Greene (one of the best starters of all time and he had great mechanics and efficiency throughout the whole race). Everyone's form is slightly different because sometimes it depends on their body type and weight but I still see great mechanics from the elites the majority of the time.
Don't talk about old school form (other than a few standouts like Owens, Borzov, Armin Hary ect.) since most of them didn't even have a drive phase and nearly all of them came up into their running early (no delayed efficient acceleration like Asafa Powell or Marcel Jacobs trained for).

All these "higher level" coaches you talked about have terrible programs. Then they say, "oh, speed and jumping are 90% genetics" when their garbage programs don't work!
