I had something similar in one of my lands. There was a demon lord who had spent the first 30ish years basically Sauroning about with a goblin army until one day he chanced upon a dwarf fortress that was holding a crossbow throwing(lol) tournament. He got into it, and returned the next year, but then in a twist he abandoned his goblin hoard and basically moved into the fort , spent the next 20 years basically as a drunkard in the taven participating in the yearly sporting carnival until one day he (presumably while blind drunk) went up to the surface and picked a fight with a giant eagle and got torn limb from limb.
This game writes far funnier Tolkien stories than Tolkien ever did.

My head cannon is that your art style is actually meant to reflect your dwarves’ point of view, and to dwarves the typical tall willowy graceful Tolkien Elves we are used to seeing just happen to look unappealingly tall, thin and snooty.

I imagine them being what you would get if you took Tolkeinesque elves and dialled up the ‘harmony with nature’ dial up to 11 so that their priorities seem completely psychotic and alien to the other races.

Him going to and enjoying festivals seems very correct for a being of his particular mystical nature, gambling and chance and all that. That whole wrestling thing could be a shoenen anime and i would watch it.
As for tamecanyon attacks not appearing in legends mode, i imagine now that rather than official acts of war those were done by a hardliner sect of their civilization. While such war parties are officially denounced or disavowed, really its understood as a way for elves to return to the cycle with honor.

I love it! I think its a good idea to do one of these types of videos every couple of small fortresses, or after one big run of a fortress, to see all that's happened since it rose. Updating it that often too would make it so you didn't have to make the video so long if you don't want to take away from other fortress projects for too long

This kind of episode is incredible! It really helps the world building for all of the forts and stories that you tell.
I love that you don't rebuild a world every time, and legends episodes help to tie it all together

Every time a new fortress appears on this channel, it makes me so happy that I stumbled upon this amazing corner of the internet and specifically this channel those few years ago. Keep forging ahead, master dwarf, for around the next bend in the mine is often gold! (Well... at least for me and these videos anyway!)

It was honestly an awesome episode, it gives more context to the world itself, and some known characters.
I do agree that Legends is one of the best parts of Dwarf Fortress, but there's just so so much information scattered I rarely know where to start and what to look for.

Always glad to see a Lore episode for Dwarf Fortress! This game is such a wonderful storytelling engine, and I'm always fascinating by the different cultures and monsters of the world, and how they correlate and coelesce into a story. And you Krugg, being such a wonderful storyteller and inspiring artist, truly allows us viewers to fully appreciate the wealth that this game is put before us. I was a bit disappointed not to hear more about the human cultures in this world (the masks they wear are fascinating!), or the other elven societies. Elves in this game are so confusing.
But i must commend you on the vast amount of work that you have done. We viewers truly appreciate everything that you put before us
    May Idrath smile upon you

The relations the dorfs form is sometimes fun, maybe because of how random they are. Sometimes it seems like everyone in a dwarf civilization knows someone at the other forts.
Logem's background was more interesting than I thought. A legendary craftsdwarf that competed with the very king himself back at the capital.

This is so fun! I love the rassledemon, and the way you personify the elvish culture is really interesting! A lot of taking-it-seriously, which I really, *really* like, and it's a lot of what makes your videos such great stories, even if you don't consider yourself much of a narrative guy on purpose.

I love the DF History Channel, as narrated by Kruggsmash. And so fun to learn more about the lore of the world you're playing in!
I just wish there was an easier, abbreviated way to do it for every fortress we play, in conjunction with 'fortress mode'

Legends mode has the most fertile ground for making stories. There are so many connections you can make from almost random threads of information it makes it read like a Silmarillion of this particular world. I hope Tarn makes legends mode more of a collection of myths the further along we go on this journey to make a fantasy generator.
