Listen to Carl Sagan narrate the trailer for our upcoming broadcast of the James Webb Space Telescope’s first full-color images and data. Watch each of the images get revealed one by one on the broadcast, starting at 10:30 am ET (14:30 UTC) on July 12, 2022. Catch the show on any of NASA’s streaming platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, CZcams, Twitch and DailyMotion.

I first read about the JWST in a book as a kindergartener and thought it was the coolest thing ever - I can't believe it's finally happening after all this time!
It's taken that long to do all the methodical things, step by step by step, to make this day actually happen. And now, It's Here! Unreal!

Imagine that Webb will see light that is long gone, thousands of years ago, but because it is still travelling towards us, we see that star, although at this present moment that star may no longer be there. I find that beyond human comprehension
I find your comment quite moving. This is a game changer for sure, so is the upgrade to the Hadron collider, and let’s not forget that ITER is more than 75% complete. Amazing things are on the horizon.

Can't help feeling emotional & choked up hearing the beautiful voice and wise words of our late great human brother, Carl Sagan.
It would've been very interesting to see and hear his reaction to the first images from the grand opening of JWST's career and mission.
In the fullness of its time, I'm looking forward to seeing the all capabilities of this new window to the universe. Best of success Webb! Show us what else is out there!

I did a presentation for this telescope back in 2018 for my senior year earth and space class, It's amazing to finally see it come to life.
It’s rare that a trailer gives me goosebumps - twice - and then makes me cry… in 78 seconds. Good job.

Watched the film on first human space walk. 1965. Today we are seeing through the time. Yes we can see time is a layer. Its nothing but a ring in space. We should understand that time is only in our mind.

I remember when I was much younger than I am now, watching Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos' on the BBC. Using his distinctive voice on the James Webb Space Telescope videos is an inspired choice. I'm just sad that he isn't here to enjoy the triumphs that the JWST will achieve. I'm sure he would have loved every nibble of data it willl send back to Earth.
He's somewhere in the ethers. I say this because matter can't be destroyed, nor created, only changed. July 12, can't come soon enough. v

Agree, NASA's previews and trailers have only gotten better over time, I'm hyped! :) If you liked this, check out the one they did for Cassini a few years ago on the National Geographic Channel. CZcams search: "Crashing Into Saturn: This Cassini Mission Is the Most Epic Yet | Short Film Showcase" or "Cassini Grand Finale" and it should be the top result. That one always gets me. 🪐🥺

Maybe I'm picky but when it says 1st images I expect first images, not a commercial for 1st images. Still...it is nice to know WHEN they will be released.

Gathering the first light from the dawn of the universe. Such exciting times.
The earliest light we can ever detect from the “dawn of the Universe” has already been imaged in detail. Starting in 1964 and later balloon borne and space borne satellites, the Cosmic Microwave Background has been accurately imaged (most recently by the Planck satellite)! That light was first visible when the Universe was just 380,000 years old. JWST is unable to “see” anything that far back in the Universe.
