The tractor I loved to drive when I was in agriculture all those years back was the Massey 565 the farmer had a 575.590.262.135.but also loved the John Deere 3650or 3640 can't remember and he had two Massey 625 super 2 combines those were the days ❤

Mu father reckons we had the 1st ever non-demonstration 1200, being the first ever one sold in the UK. It was sold to us by F. A. Standen’s of Ely. MF took it back after 12 months to deliberately take it apart and smash test every bolt to see what stresses they had suffered.
Massey’s lent us another 1200 while ours was away, which was one of their demo tractors. It had PAVT wheels all round.
We ended up having one other 1200, which I bought at a Farm auction in Suffolk that unfortunate eventually cremated itself and was replaced by a 1250 bought from Clive Lester in Yorkshire.
Those 600 series were the doggie’s dangly bit of their day. We had a 675 and a 690. Just superb tractors until the tin worm ate the doors off them.

Interesting comment. Am trying to get this confirmed through my sources. Be interesting if any providence could be provided, serial number, invoice copy. Initial 1200 test unit/s had different decals. They were as per the pictures used in the 1200 operators manual. Have a photograph of it next to a grey fergie. It was on PAVT wheels.
Tim work, cheap steel bought supposedly virgin but actually high content of recycled scrap. Purchased ex Ukraine back in the day.
@@grahamclark7594 We are talking 1973, so unfortunately those invoices went many years ago. The rep who sold it to us was a chap called Norman Wisby, commonly known as ‘Wizbang’!
If you can find more information I’d be most grateful too. My father was M A J Ward, known as Tony Ward. We then lived and farmed at Whittingham Hall, Fressingfield, Suffolk. Having recently moved from the Cambridgeshire Fens, hence why we used Standen’s at Ely.
MF were very keen for my for my father to have it and for some reason flew him up to Kilmarnock to discuss it.
It was a great tractor. We had a Dowdeswell 5 furrow double offset semi-mounted plough for it, so ploughed ‘on-land’ as opposed to in-the-furrow. However this wasn’t really successful especially when it got too wet. So we switched to a 4 furrow Lemken and ploughed in-the-furrow.
Despite MF taking it away for testing at a year old, there were a few reliability issues and my father decided to sell it as he thought repair costs of a £ for every hour it had worked were excessive!
But about 10 years later we bought our second one from a Farm sale. In between time, we had an MF595, which was an absolute disaster! This 2nd 1200 was a very good tractor and we bought a Dowdeswell DP 8 plough for it. We had a set of Dual wheels for it and a 4.5 metre Maschio Power Harrow, pulling a set of Cambridge rolls. Unfortunately it cremated itself whilst stopped for lunch time, so got replaced with a 1250, which was undoubtedly the ultimate tractor.
