  • This amp has now been sold. Thank you for your support!
    Hi everyone, I usually hide my reverb demos on the channel, but I thought this would be an easy way to announce the amp being for sale. Plus, I don't feel that I thoroughly demonstrated the features before. My reverb store is HERE.

      That's no joke. I am glad I found it a home with someone who really digs it. It didn't take much to revive it, as it came to the shop with issues. Old Peavey amps are usually pretty tough.

      I thought it sounded great with the black widow speakers that were in it. Peavey had some great amps in the 80's and it seems that not too many artists noticed.

    quite impressive, it's sorta like a roland jazz chorus and a fender twin reverb breed result XD; the 6l6 valves provide the smoothness you need for a great bluesy sound. One thing I could notice, after trying one out myself, is that the saturation knob doesn't actually deliver a strong and piercing distortion as we are used to nowadays, but rather a different nuance to your gentle overdrive/crunch. I think this is peavey's take to a gentle giant, some sort of a very fine amp, yet reliable and not very pricey, to have that plug'n'play tube amp you've always dreamed of.

      @DeadKoby  Před 3 lety +1

      Peavey amps are all over the place with gain structure. Some models are geared towards Country, some Rock/Blues, and some Metal. They had the same look and controls, but much different gains.

    I have one of these that I bought, and it had blown both original speakers and only had one replaced with a 12" bass speaker. I was looking at flea markets near me for 12" guitar speakers, but came across an empty 4x10 Peavey VT Classic combo with no amp, only speakers. I bought it for $20 and stuck the VTX Heritage amp into it, and it works perfectly. One speaker even broke for a bit, then the amp got slammed in my car door and it works perfectly again lmao.

    This was my first good, new amp as a kid. It was definitely not the amp for a 100 lbs kid. I remember it being very heavy and loud as hell. I wanted it because Allan Collens and Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd played them. Lol.

      Thank you. I also had a Classic VTX some years ago that I fixed and sold. Peavey needs more credit than they got.

    • @dreamdiction
      @dreamdiction Před 3 lety

      @Benjamin Weeks I'm sorry I don't know the answer, all I know is that the very earliest Heritage amps had a valve preamp (like the classic) but they quickly changed the Heritage to a transistor preamp. Peavey have made very few amps with valve preamps because their transistor preamps (pre-gain, saturation, post-gain), gave them much more flexibility in overdrive tones and frequency spectrum tone (bass, mid, treble). The saturation knob is a bit fuzzy so keeping the saturation very low (or off) and using high levels of pre and post gain gives a very valve-like tone. Valve preamps gave limited advantage but much disadvantage, this is why there are so few Peaveys with valve pre-amps.

    • @dreamdiction
      @dreamdiction Před 3 lety

      @Benjamin Weeks If you spend time experimenting with the Peavey transistor pre-amp you can get a satisfactory 'valve tone'. You may be able to get a slightly better valve tone from a real valve pre-amp but nobody other than the owner of the amp cares about those small differences. The live audience don't care, the other guys in the band don't care, the guys in the studio can make a Bandit sound like a Dumble so they don't care - nobody cares other than you. I think you should go for the transistor amp and enjoy the quick direct access to widely varying distortion and tone adjustments. If you are a rock player, unplug the internal peavey speakers and plug into a box of 4 X 12 Celestion G12H type speakers (closed back) for instant big fat warm godly tone where you can turn the treble up high without ever sounding shrill and thin.
