God could you imagine getting yelled at by Bob Ross in the service, and then, many years later, when you have a family of your own; turning on PBS for your kids and your damn DRILL SARGENT is on the TV whispering to your kids.
Depends what you think of as "best" artist. Bob was amazing because of his ability to make painting something that anyone could do whilst showing it to be almost a meditative excercise. He really did inspire a lot of people to pick up the brush (including myself). His paintings are cute, but they're not super impressive in the grande scheme of things, and other landscape artists would absolutely blow him out of the water. So I would hesitate to call him the best that ever lived in that regard. But he was an inspiration to millions.
This is my first time watching the famous Bob Ross... This is fascinating and i'm kind of speechless. What an amazingly calming manner and talent he had. It's relaxing on a completely different level
He left a wonderful legacy behind. Bob's been admired for decades now and will be for a long time. I discovered him on the local PBS television station back in the mid-1980's. His demeanor and voice were so soothing.
The father of televised/public accessed ASMR. There are folks who have painted along with him. They work. These paintings are masterpieces of patience and tranquility. I think Sgt. Ross rests easy knowing that even now, years after his passing, folks are still giving their tress a friend and making happy little accidents along with him. You carried a torch, Sgt., and while your days of screaming at recruits we're long over you trained new hands at a few things on the war against depression. I salute you.
This is what comfort is supposed to sound like. Starting with the salted caramel drips of dear Bob's descriptions, to the satisfying scrip scrape of his knife, to the generous and lovely way he encourages his audience to make our own decisions and emphasizes that they and we are important while being so forgiving of our mistakes and encouraging us to do the same, to his little voice effects of "swip", "bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce", "skwitz", "whiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssstle". Bob Ross just feels like a warm blanket wrapped over you on a cold winter day when you're all snoodled in cozy.
Absolute master of this expression. His voice is a great compliment to his ability to make you believe you can do this. If you were angry or anxious before, watch him and you are calm.
I may have only have been born in very late of '99. But I wish I had an eighth of the creativity this god of a man had. Let alone the amount of skill and patience he had. There are no words on how I can feel how the world misses him.
Just imagine the scale and detail of his paintings had he lived in this time where youtube is accessible. Mostly all of these paintings are done within a 25-30min time window.

ASMR is supposed to be unintentional. Unlike today's countless " asmrtists " who just whisper, it's supposed to come natural. The fact that these are literally actual asmr videos from 25-30 years ago shows you how ahead his time he was. It's unreal.
