The road has not been easy for “Dance Mom’s” star Abby Lee Miller. After completing her prison sentence last year, the famed dance instructor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I don’t understand why Presley and her mom made such a big deal about the costume. The costume that she was supposed to wear would have looked stunning with the choreography.
Because Abby was making fun of Pressley about the way she looks. No dance teacher should ever do that and make a child feel so insecure about themselves

sorry but Abby is right here. Costuming is NOT about Body Image. It’s about DANCER IMAGE. Dancer doesn’t = Stick thin or gorgeous or any other label you want to stick on a body. Dancer = Straight Knees, Pointed Feet. if your knees don’t straighten and your feet don’t point, or your lines are absolutely incredible and you have the most hyperextended ankles on the planet, Your costume helps create a DANCERS LINE. and make the most brilliant LINE aesthetics on stage. It is not about making your dancer look like they have a ‘perfect’. Pressley is absolutely perfect just the way she is and always will be. And Abby is absolutely brilliant at costuming and making a dancers lines look the best that they can look on stage. These 2 things can coincide peacefully. The difficulty level of that solo was crazy high and she nailed it. Maybe if she would’ve wore Abbey’s costume she would’ve won.

Ashley is the reason Pressley lost. The only other solo Pressley won was Flower Child, and she was wearing baggy pants that hid her legs and feet.

@Jasmine N. it was not about hiding her body just because Abby wanted to or because she was being bodyshamed, it was about hiding her bad technique, if she had worn the costume Abby gave her (that acctually fit the choreography and hid her bad technique) she could've won
@Jasmine N. I mean technique, and such fine details take time to improve. Obviously she would have time to improve if competition wasn’t two days away, but since she was on dance moms for that period, she didn’t have time to fully improve on it. Hence Abby went down another route. I guess Presley didn’t realise her feet were bad (yknow dance wise) before Presley came to dance moms so yeah…
Hiding bad technique is understandable but hiding ur body just because she doenst have nice legs is not like her legs are not a huge issue and neither is her as Abby says her neck, legs, shoulders, or her hair she is beautiful HOWEVER, Abby is correct in a way because the costume does compliment your body and the dance it’s made for that reason it’s not to cover her body and some of abbys reasoning is good because I personally think teb first costume was getter but of course Abby has to be rude about it like she is about everything and everyone : C

To be honest, I actually fully agree with Abby. Ashley is being emotional and making it all about covering her body. But it's just a costume made for the dance!
To be honest I think the first costume would've flowed better. Ashley kind of twisted Abby's words and made a big deal about it, when it really wasn't that big.

@@person6223 I would have loved to see any of the dancers from any of the seasons dance to a Melanie song. "Tag You're It" would have been a good dark piece for them to make a duo or group dance from like they did in Amber Alert, but sadly copy write exists.
The dance would’ve been so much more beautiful if she had that flowy dress on. Its not about body shaming, its about hiding her bad technique and having a costume that goes with the dance.

I’m sorry but I agree with Abby on this one. She wasn’t covering up her body she was covering her feet and legs in case there were footwork issues! Abby was right on this.
Ashley was so wrong for this lmao. Made her kid look awful and have tension with her dance teacher for no reason.
I thought the first costume would’ve been super pretty. She honestly might’ve gotten a higher score with that costume. The second one is pretty, but not for her. Ashley thinks they’re hiding her body, but they’re trying to flatter her and the dance.
Honestly I think Presley should have just worn the costume. It might not have been what she was expecting or exactly what she wanted but at least she got a costume.

Abby is right, I used to be a dancer and whatever costume the teacher picked for the dance, we had to use it because it went with the dance and the choreography for the dance, Pressley should have just wore the costume Abby picked because if Pressley was working in the professional dance industry and did what she did, she would have been fired on the spot instead of being allowed to perform

I personally think that Pressley should’ve just worn the outfit, because like Abby said it’s not about the body it’s about the choreography. The point of having the costume was to hide the bad feet. Also to fit with the music and dance. Abby does great with outfits, (most of the time) and I see why Ashley was angry but it’s kinda unreasonable. Like, sure she wanted Pressley to be proud of her body, but you don’t need a costume that shows a lot of it to be proud of it.
as an former dancer (contemporary/ballet), i am with abby on this one - in all honesty, her feet were a little weaker when it came to technique - she wouldn't look messy, in fact, it would flatter her rather slim build and enhance her waist and arms and draw less attention to her legs. I thought the purple costume was gorgeous

I honestly think the costume Abby picked was way more beautiful and flattering for the dance. The other costume was covered in jewels that made her look more boxed and the bottoms looked like a diaper

At my studio they made everybody aware of what body types we had without making people feel bad. I knew I had a long torso and short legs with a tiny waist. So when they put me in costumes that flattered me I knew it was for my own good.

There's a reason Abby prides herself in costuming bc she really knows her stuff! I'm glad if Pressley got a boost in her confidence but this problem didn't have to be treated this way.

I think the dance would have looked better with the other costume. Not just the feet, but how it moves. I think the other one would have flowed better and made her movements look graceful.
You can tell pressley felt good in that white costume. She did amazing. I don’t think it would have been as good without the confidence of feeling she looked good. No one can be their most confident in an outfit they hate that doesn’t fit right

the producers picked those dances and costumes though. When they did Broadway Blondes you could see Abby was not thrilled about the costumes the choreographer chose

I agree with Abby, its about accentuate what she can do, her best qualities. Im surprised Abby didn't scratch the solo.
I'm sure if they weren't filming a show where producers call the final shots then Abby wouldn't have allowed the solo to go ahead. If it had bee one of her regular students it wouldn't have happened. She's trying to train employable dancers and a stunt like that in a professional job will get you fired.

Pressley was such an underrated dancer on the show and judging by this I know she is capable of soo so so so much more this was just a taster of her talent
She was the worst dancer on the team.
Momager acts like an employee telling a boss, "Well, I don't want to work on my project this way. I like to do it differently." The boss knows what's best and drives the project to completion. The employee would be fired, just like Pressley.

I like the purple costume more; it looked more mature and the skit flowed well. The costume she wore looked fine, a bit much for this solo, but I really didn’t like that cloth attached to her bottoms because it just reminds me of a handkerchief.
I wonder what the original costume would've looked like onstage. The pink and white one was really pretty though. This was my favorite solo that Pressley has done all season. She did an amazing job!

The costume Abby had was perfect for the dance...it would have flowed like a beautiful river with that choreography. You wouldn't tell a Broadway choreographer...sorry not wearing that.

I thought the original costume was better. The costume and the dance goes together they go hand in hand. But once u change the costume sometimes it doesn't go hand in hand. Ashley every parent is gonna think thier kid is great . Abby is in charge of the studio not you. Everyone knows u don't change the costume. At least Abby still let presely dance cuz sometimes she won't let u dance if u change a costume.

I think the problem for Nia was to create a good solo took more work, so she got less. Chloe an Maddie etc. can do the generic lyrical and Kendall the generic jazz because they have that natural turnout for it. Nia was less about technique and advanced skills and more about persona and that's harder to create without turning it into a dead horse. Plus the show is about rivalries so it focused mainly on Chloe and Maddie and their solos.

Part of being proud of yourself and your body is seeing that you can be beautiful in anything, you don't always have to show more skin to be confident in what you wear. Teaching true self-love is knowing that the current body that you have doesn't define your worth. This would've been a great opportunity for Presley's mom to show her that no matter what she wears, she's beautiful and talented.
I thought the costume Pressley chose to wear made her look shorter. I thought the original costume was way better.
I understand that Presley’s original costume was unflattering and she didn’t feel comfortable in it. With dance or any competition with costumes, you have to do what is required for the dance. I’m happy she wore a different outfit that made HER feel happy and confident, but she could’ve saved the whole argument and wore the costume Abby gave her.
but that’s not the point. What looks good on her WOULDVE made the number because covering the legs and feet brings attraction to the arms and they won’t see her bad technique or bent knees and lazy releve.

The costume abby wanted her to wear would've hidden her flaws, not saying she's a bad dancer. She's a great dancer but every dancer has weak points like Kenzie from the OG team had sickled feet so she usually did acro rather than lyrical, Abby was right on this one

1) As a dancer, the first costume would have gone well with the choreography. The costume ashley put on her did nothing for the choreography or her legs and feet.
2) The fact that ashley felt the need to show off her 12 year olds body because she's beautiful is a little disturbing. So she was teaching her that beauty is "showing off your body." That's sad and wrong.
