718 is such a dead car, even Porsche themselves say they didn't want to make a 4CL Boxster/Cayman, no wonder so many reviews say it has no soul

The thing about tt drivers is the way they put their hands on the posts that attach the steering wheel to the center of the wheel every tt owner including my father does that
Replace the 695 in 6 months time when you can get a TT RS with a few miles on the clock for a good price ;)

This car just like the previous TT RS and RS3 is a beast! With some small upgrades you can make it extremely fast. From 0-100 You have nearly no competition. You will easily rip any AMG or BMW from 0-100 km/h.
Of course he like that one. It has "Factory-Lipstick-Styling". ;)

I daily a 2nd gen TT 2.0 and I love it, it's your preference on what you like in a car, people say it's more of a woman's car but I have seen more women in z4's, big trucks, camero's, mustang's etc... so it's literally just your preference in cars, it doesn't have to be feminine to like a TT and it's not any more manly to drive a 370z or a mustang or something, what is more manly is not giving a fuck

Well at least this car provides a nice ass for the manly Mustang and Camaro drivers to look at whilst the TT crushes them in a straight line or Hill Country twisties. All while getting better gas mileage than them- in an interior that puts those to shame.

The TT RS is a great car for making power! They are pretty damn capable!
I love the RS range of Audis, but why oh why did they remove the twin tip exhausts.. the dual ones look so much less aggressive :'(
The Last gen TTRS was the same way along with other current RS models like the a7 RS,the models with the dual tips are the S versions like the TTS and a7S

well 0-62 in 3.7 is supercar territory. doesn't look or drive like one though. You're probably better off with a base carrera.

***** since when did it became sub 3? It was always 500+ hp, sub 4 to 100, and preferably mid engined. Not a lot of cars in production today can crack 3 seconds to 62. I can count maybe 10 (not including track cars). Also M3 doesn't do a sub 4. The M4 with the competition pack does a 3.8 though.
0-60 is pretty irrelevant; plenty of cars are hitting 0-60 in around 4 seconds, mainly due to launch control and/or 4WD/AWD. It isn't an indication of day to day performance. In gear acceleration times and 0-100 mph are much more informative.

Actually I prefer to know a 0-40mph and 50-100mph (I mean 50-70 obviosuly, travelling over 70 is definately an irresponsible and illegal thing to do...) times over anything else
0-60 is an indication of traction.

Arman Alam If he lived in the countryside in Scotland I'd agree on having manual and no air-con or radio could be seen as sensible. You can enjoy the gearbox, it rarely gets too hot, and the engine noise can be enjoyed. He lives in London though. WTF was he thinking. Mind you, same applies to Tim and his Mini, but at least he can choose to take his other cars instead, and it's unlikely to depreciate.

As a 2017 TTS owner I unerstand the TTRS has the performance on paper but i'm not sure a wing and a few different body pieces, and an extra cylinder are worth 15 grand difference in USD. Theres a LOT of used potential for 75 grand.

It doesn't have a great presence cause that spec is boring as hell. With a banging spec & better exhaust => instant head turner.
In the High RPM range the TTRS sounded like it had a Huracan or R8 V10 Engine in the video
I saw one and sat in it. Honestly, the interior is awesome, but the exterior is kinda meh. I wouldn't buy. If I really have to buy an audi "sport/super car" I'd go for an r8 (even the old one)

Christian Van Ristell, I took what he said as very positive. He simply knows where the car is in the grand scheme of things. Otherwise he was quite complementary about its sound, the gearbox, the looks, the sure-footedness in poor weather, etc. Perspective being what it is...we saw different things.

So having driven this TTRS and the New 718s what would you choose? Keeping in mind I will only use the car Friday-Sunday as I have a daily driver. The price here is almost identical.

The "bar" for supercar's has changed in the last 2 to 4 years with so many new models achieving 0-60 in under 3 seconds.
I think the rs3 cab will be the one to get . the 2.5t with a proper exhaust is the ultimate daily.
This is such an awesome car. I live in the Midwest of the United States and you never see TT's... this would be as rare as seeing an R8. I love how it sounds like half an R8 as well.

"Demi" supercar which does it all and is very good at almost anything. But now that Sam got a daily car already, the F-type replacement doesn't have to be an everyday car. TT-RS's low-key look makes it stealth and easier to park on the street of London, especially in the night, but now he doesn't even have to do that.
He probably would opt for a more special-looking, more performance-focused car.
TLDR; I own one. New Audi TTRS is clocking in at 0-60 in 3.5 seconds which is supercar performance.
It's an impressive machine for a low cost considering and such a small engine compared to it's predecessor, the 2008-2012 R8's.
The older R8's will always have a special place in my heart, but the raw speed of the new RS's...
I think the fact it's based on the same platform shared with the A3 and Golf is the reason it's not a supercar. Supercars are from the ground up designed to be balanced and sporty. This is an everyday sedan/coupe/hatch chassis from VAG. It was mostly designed to be a fwd based regular car, so the center of gravity is average and like the golf has a transversely mounted fwd based awd. This doesn't mean it's by any means a bad car, and it's very sporty. But it's an economy based performance car, no matter how great it is, a supercar is design only as a sports car. Still I love the TT-RS and like the vids too.

The Ttrs is a good car but you already have that crazy yellow and good sounding car. Imo you need something more to replace the ftype
but the thing is, this costs as much as a 2010-2011 r8 v10 with either a manual transmission or the r tronic transmission, so the question is; which one would u buy coz I know I would buy the r8. I know these aren't comparable cars but u end thinking 5 cylinder turbo vs n/a v10 and they r both the SAME price. just food for thought there.
but one's used the others brand new? can't compare a used car to a brand new car.

Sam this is possibly my favourite video of yours, because it's shot in a way that I aim my Channel to be, everyday cars that can give anybody a smile. Not just £100k+ supercars. No it's not a supercar but I'd take a sub 4s car with that noise any day of the week. Any tips on getting access to cars like this would be much appreciated.
As an Audi fanboy, to be honest, I don't want the TT RS to be a supercar. That's what the R8 is for. I like the TT RS as a sports car. It fits perfectly in that slot.
You should get a Megane RS 275 as your daily and a Lotus Exige Sport 350.
My question is, what would you have between a TTRS or an RS3? I would go for RS3 plus I think its cheaper....

I've been a TT fan since its groundbreaking introduction into the U.S. market. For the first time Americans were introduced to styling themes applied tastefully throughout an automobile. The first few model years of the TT sold in this Country were simply beautiful.
That said, I'm not excited about the TT's current styling. Yes, it looks fast, modern and capable. What the new TT's lack in styling, the original TT's oozed. I'm talking about SEXY. The current version lacks those gentle rounded curves and sweeping roof line that stir the primal urges.
Don't get me wrong, the current TT is a beautiful car. In my opinion however, it lacks many of the classic "lines" attributed to the TT.

I'm going to buy this car to replace my gen 1 RS :) In the recent Evo test this beat the 718 Cayman S & BMW M2 around a track so this car is a real surprise! I agree Sam it does not have the road presence but l like a sleeper.

if you go just off 0-60 time, then an ariel atom is a super car, super car isnt just speed, its a combination of costs, exclusivity, and speed

Adamini firstly it'scheaper secondly and it doesn't need to be awd. It's mid-engined and comes with a manual. Btw 718 Cayman S with PDK is not only cheaper but also faster on track.
So TT RS is a great car but for driving pleasure it can't beat the Cayman

Gentlemen the Porsche 911 use to be known as a hairdressers car in the early 1960.s driven by the Chelsea set, so to speak, you’re too young to know about this, the market at that time was mainly London, most Porsches were mainly owned by people who worked in the city, at the time of Carnaby street, where the fashionable hung out.
I have the TT Mk1, and the lines on it are far nicer. A beautiful looking car from all angles, even now it's 14yrs old. I haven't been inside a Mk3, which would be the next TT I would buy, but it would have to be pretty special as it's looks aren't as good.

The TTRS is such an amazing car to drive and it just sounds fucking amazing
You can get a Ford Mustang GT350 for the same price, which is a much better car (if you're car guy who enjoys driving). The interior, on the other hand, is almost flawless on the TT. But I would still go for the raw driving experience of the GT350.

My guess right now is his choice might come down to one among Audi R8, Ferrari California and a sleeper, Lotus Evora 400 or 410(if he opts for a manual). Some other Ferrari's like 430 and 360, I don't know, those single clutch gearboxes are usually notoriously high-maintenance.
i dont think he's gonna buy R8 and daily drive Abarth because you can easily daily drive Audi. Evora 400 is a different situation. Manual F430 would be awesome

Why buy Abarth 695 for daily driving if you can do more comfy dd with R8 :D? Audi R8 is a very comfortable car even though it is a supercar. You're missing my point. Sam also told us he wants something more "raw".

Yeah that 2.5 litre engine is special on its own, and if it starts at 390bhp, imagine what you could pull from a quick tune, or even a few mods, surely 500bhp isn't even a pipe dream? Would be concerned about Haldex the entire time though

thing about the ttrs in compare to the 718 is:
it's the same price and you get a perfect 718 interior that you also have in a 200.000$ turbo S. same quality and everything.
the ttrs has the same as the Audi a3 with a alcantara streeringwheel. so the same as a 30.000$ car.
some like the design some not. i don't care. but the handling and everything is way better in the new 718. (and yes i drove both)
IMO the ttrs is too expensive and brake problems haven't been fixed since 6 years which is a nogo for that amount of money.
i don't like how the side fenders look like they are just put on there's no transition...
