I think the album cracked the top 100 but the Dreams single just barely missed it. The album caused a rift with Barry and Tom since it was recorded to sound as close to a Boston album as possible, even using the same producer and engineer and promoted almost a Boston album. What people got used to was Tom's special guitar effects on Boston songs 🎵. People forget that Barry Goudreau played the lead "monster guitar 🎸 on "Long Time", "Let me take you home tonight" "Used to bad news" and he played SLIDE GUITAR 🎸 on "Don't be afraid" and Don't look back. In other words , Barry Goudreau was very much part of the Boston sound. He just wasn't narcissistic like Tom Scholz.

You never heard it because the record label pulled Barry’s albums off the racks and off the radio. Tom Scholz accused Barry of “copying the Boston Sound” and the label cow-towed to Scholz. That effectively derailed Barry’s solo career. You have 3/5ths of Boston here. The irony is, without Barry basically teaching Tom how to play rock guitar (he was a keyboard player) there wouldn’t be a “Boston Sound,” or even a “Boston.”

I've always thought it was kind of a shame they didn't come up with Dreams when they were recording the Don't Look Back album, since that album could have used an extra track or two. This would have been a perfect bridge between A Man I'll Never Be and Feelin' Satisfied.

I went to a flea market and picked up this record for free. Never knew there was another guitarist in Boston and the piece of crap Tom Sholz told Barry to leave the band, why? Because Barry would have been bigger than Boston. Wtf is wrong with people. I will enjoy music because I’m from Massachusetts where this guy is from.

More so than any recent Boston album by far. I gotta say the more I learn the bands legal problems, Im starting realize Shultz was really a selfish prick.

James Tucker , Tom Scholz fired Barry Goudreau from Boston because EPIC packaged Barry's album as "ALMOST BOSTON" . Tom got Epic to sabotage promoting this album. Like Foreigners Mick Jones whined to Atlantic records in 1991 sabotaging Lou Gramms band and album called 👉SHADOW KING forcing to Lou back in Foreigner in 1992.
