White rum is nothing like vodka or anything else. Rum distillate has tremendous character and every white rum tastes different to one another. I have stunning Velier white rums and agricole rums from Haiti as well but the best bang for buck white rums are Wray & Nephew, Worthy Park and Hampden. All Jamaican with that funky whiff and bottled at 63%. Good box from Plantation.
For me there’s a strong banana tasting note with the 3 Stars, specifically on the nose. Also slightly funky (must be the Jamaican component). It’s really good to use in Mojitos and Daiquiris. Havana Club 3 year old is my other go-to for good and cheap white rum.
Correct - Veritas in the USA is called Probitas. And yeah, what a dumb thing to say about white rum. Prob/Veritas is a good example, but heck, try Wray & Nephew Overproof or Rum Fire and tell me how close to vodka you are... and if that doesn't drive the point home, break out some Clairin.

Haven't had Havana stock in so long, will have to compare the two. Daiquiris are my go to drink now that it's getting warmer. Simply delicious.
