- So I drove the Volkswagen Vento. In every way, it is no better than a Honda City or Toyota Vios. But it drives way better. And of course - TURBO.

Got my Vento 1.2 Tsi today, other than brake pedal that located freaking high, the drive is just pure WOW for a B-segment car.
Thanks to Honda City which I initially planning to buy is out of stock, I manage to buy a better car to drive 😁
What was your feedback for tour past experience owning this car? I am planning to buy one as my second car. The price is a bargain now
HEAR ME OUT.. for those who have doubt over VW badge, try for a TEST DRIVE!
I end up own this car, and NEVER look back. Its jst how the German car build.
Dont be fool by the Interior, I straight amazed on how can something soo simple on paper and pic, felt so SOLID? When u enter, ull immediately feel cacoon and founded, thats how solid German Car is. My family owned, ViOS, Myvi, Saga.. so Im sure im not ranting aimlessly here. When u test drive this Unit, comparing this to ViOS, City, Persona (aside Mazda) is not justice, they dont come even near, insult almost 👻
YES the maintenance is expensive, but its ONLY every 15K for normal service and 60K for Major. With the ride quality and superior cabin build - saving aside RM 100/Month on top of your commitment would MORE than enough.
Be responsible to your car and your car would be more responsive to you..ITS A SACRED relationship, uphold it! So for those who is scared in committing to TSi Engine.. always can go for MPi Engine for peace of mind 🤴🏻
I was the silver vento you talked bout few weeks back during the kuala klawang drive. This vento is really an amazing for such drive.
Hi Bobby! Loving your work! If you could do a review of the Cerato, that'd be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
cool review dude... agree with you man.. the vento highline is a super cool car to drive
I drive a Polo 1.2 TSI into the 6th year of ownership while most of my peers have ditched their VWs. The sharp looking exterior, impressive driving dynamics, rock solid build quality, excellent refinement and premium material choices in the cabin still puts a smile on my face.
Daniel Tan what was the main reason they ditched their VW?
DSG failure. I was not exempt from this issue but all is well after the clutch pack replacement at no cost. Gear shifts are smoother now. 😁
Daniel Tan . which sc vw do you go for theclutch pack replacement? very rare to heard owning vw beyond 3-5yrs. lucky
Mohammad Mahathir Federal Auto, Glenmarie. Anyway, they have extended the gearbox warranty by another 2 years on top of the pre-existing 5. Hung on to the car because it is still awesome on the move. Interior holding up really well. No rattling whatsoever.
Just wondering, still own your Polo 1.2TSI?
Not just better handling, drive & performance...heck the suspension is amazingly comfortable!
At last the one car that i wanted and waited to be reviewed .thanks bobby
Nice one Bobby. I'm considering it.
There are cars with carpet on parcel shelf Bobby, both my Lexus LS and GS have this in the boot.
Good review 👍🏻
Nice! #OnlyLexusDoesIt!
Hello Bobby! Finally you are reviewing on this. I have a little request here la. Can you do a comparison on the Proton Persona Campro VVT against it's rivals and predecessor(possibly)? 😋 thank you~
VW Malaysia should pay you for this video ! Nice review.
I dropped this car for the city for the same reason many do which is practicality and spec. But deep down inside I know what Bobby has to say is true as I test drove Vento and felt that instant satisfaction with the driving experience.
Shame typical minded
The new vento 1.2TSI now comes with CPC(conti premium contact) 215/45/16 tires n has Bluetooth connectivity, android auto n apple car.
The saga and Almera on the right lane is so spot on. Sometimes theyre just trying to overtake slower cars and if you're driving at 160, don't tailgate them and let them get back to their lane safely.
Your predicting and assumption was right, I was driving saga and I now driving vento 1.6
Well said~ TSI + DSG is perfect for FUN drive :)
Good and detailed review bobby
180 TSI rear badging? Is it any different from the 1.2 TSI sold in India?
The real reason this Vento has its buyer thanks to the DSG and good torque power where it gives you very good acceleration. Conti can made good handling cars and sturdy than B segment Japanese does.
Do you record the video of volkswagen jetta before , Or the latest one ?
Pro: Body rigidity of this VW is better than most of the Japanese's car (same class).
Cons: Fuel consumption ( That's why using 1.2cc + low turbo, for more torque)
Vento or Polo Sedan, 1.2 TSI or 1.6 MPI, they join the same ranks as the Fiesta and Mazda 2 in the driving department - simply marvelous for those that enjoy driving.
Even back when they were CBU from India with Apollo tires and without arm rest or rear AC vents, this is one of those very few sub-RM100K cars I've driven that I could confidently corner harder and plough thru urban road imperfections and speed humps without upsetting the chassis nor suspension. It's just a pity that a majority of buyers of this segment prioritizes practicality and space (and partly by VW's hazy DSG mechatronic history back then) than pure driving fun. A definite compact city run about.
It's a pity but then again driving fast isn't everyone's cup of tea. Many buy cars to live with it. Obviously, practicality and space rank highest, for most people.
I'm not sure about the 1.2 TSI, but the 1.6 MPI handling is not as good as the Mazda 2. The 1.2 TSI rear absorbers are harder than 1.6 MPI.
Current DSG for Vento still dry type, it is reliable?
Hows the safety rating of this car compared to cars like vios or city?
Good point.. when i see the media, i directly thinking buying city rather than vento eventhough it looks better than city from outside..
Thanks for the honest opinion
I think its really true since i own a honda city hybrid and have some friends who owns a passat and a jetta and those cars really packs a punch when the Turbo kicks in.
plus the transmission on VW is really smooth
hi bobby, can you make review on a3 sedan. non latest model also alright. thanks!
helo bobby, how about 0-100kmh? have u tested?
How is this compared to Mazda 2? Handling wise and comfort.
You have a good point and reason, i think it is fair between those 2 japanese car maker that you have been mention just now .
hi bobby ifnot mistaken, this 1.2 tsi is match with6speed wet clutch, in your video. but i ask around vw SA & Msia VW website all pointing to existing 7speed dry clutch. anybody care to explain? thanks
Thanks for the video.. I recently ordered the new vento 1.2 tsi join version.. it's a major upgrade from saga blm 1.3 and hopefully this car can give driving pleasure to me
Join warna apa bro? Order dekat mana yg ada stok tu?
Just ordered the join TSI vento too. Hope you will get an amazing experience
Nice, geng...
How is ur driving experience so far? Ada regret x beli city x?
Cmna bro firdaus puas hati tak pakai Vento ?
This is a good review
It's definitely a great car!
How’s the fuel consumption for this car?
Interested to buy this model in yr 2023, any feedback should i buy?
Anyone know if i can buy only the rims the vento has?
Totally agree with you on the driving dynamics of continental cars vs asian cars. I'll never go back ever since I've switched to conti.
KC Aquatics high five, once conti forever conti
Is a really great car. For the price and within the same segment compare to other brands, is a good buy. Power and handling no doubt beats the Japanese. Sadly i totaled it, but i wouldn’t mind getting another one.
nice review bobby.. thumbs up
you somehow change my perception to vw cars. attracting my attention to this car instead of city high spec.
by the way, i couldn't find ur video about polo 1.2 overtaking cayenne =D Give me the link~
Does Suzuki Ciaz sells there or not? Cuz it's best car in this segment.
Why not take the hatchback polo?
Hi Bobby, just want to confirm, 1.2 TSi & the seat is fabric? Which means only Vento 1.6 own Leather seat?
Beside that any different within this 2 segment?
Jiing Shyng Kew i think both have fabric seats. Leather seat is optional to be upgraded depending on the SP
Super entertaining from 25:00 awesome way at relating with 316i and Camry and speed bump part is cool too, you're good Bobby
old klang road ?
Could you review the facelifted Honda City V please?
Bobby, dual zone does work for me, especially my wife that can't stand too cold, I just raise up the temp for her at the other side.... haha...so far it works for me....
does the 2017, 1.6 has the same driving experience as this, does it have the same DSC gearbox too?
The 1.6 MPI Vento, which has a torque converter GB, and 1.2 TSI drive and handle quite differently because of engine, gearbox and tires.
What is topspeed this car
Hi, nice review. Mind to compare this car with Peugeot 208 puretech with 1.2 turbo engine as well? Thanks bobby
Kevin kkv Yeah, I also want to know for the performance wise, which one is better
would love to hear your opinion on suzuki swift sport
Bobby, what are your European car maintenance intervals like ? VW suggests every 15k or 1 year but when do you recommend changing the fluids ? 15k seems like an awfully long time to drag the change.
If you dont do hard driving at all, 15,000 is fine. If you want your car to always run on fresh oil of course you can but it will be a bit wasteful if you're the kind that drives smooth and slow. If you often go for drives, touge, hard acceleration, 5-6k would be good to maintain your oil in good lubricance. As for gear oil, i dont buy that bullshit lifetime thingy bmw tells. I change them every 40k ... some people may tell you changing gear oil will damage the car, that is only true to certain extent if the car have had particles stuck in the transmission, and changing the oil or flushing might result in particles being dislodged from where they were and then becoming stuck in some places resulting in the transmission not functioning well
Bobby Ang ok I definitely do have instances whereby I drive it fast, but in KL traffic conditions it’s quite unlikely it will be too fast as well. I have also heard that for direct injection engines carbon blasting should be done every 40-50k mileage as well. Reason why I asked is cause I am on the road pretty often and I would like to do more preventive maintenance than to actually wait for something to falter and then only go fix it. Thank you for the helpful info. Gotta love your honest reviews!
Hey Bobby, what is your opinion on VW DSGs eating themselves under Malaysian traffic conditions?
Have faith. And warranty is there. Look upon the proper way to operate dry DCT. And if all fails to convince you, avoid VW or DCT for that matter. That is all.
At 93K, I don't know why VW MY can't provide an additional 2 airbags. That's a deal breaker for me
Great review! A lot of detail there especially about the break pedal. I have no idea why but I think your reviews are always better at that mosquito base lol
Btw, how about the Mazda 2 compare with this?
Mazda has a higher quality interior, prettier upmarket design, weaker (but way more efficient) drivetrain, and handles maybe slightly better.
Cool Bobby...💐👍🏻😎
boby please answer my question, which one have a better acceleration..this vento or preve/suprima ? thank you
I'm not sure. Would love to drive a Suprima one day.
Bobby Ang wow very fast reply, tq boby
Between Vento 1.2 TSI and Honda City Hybrid. Which one should I choose?
Will be used more in city drive.
Safety is the main concern
Thanks
Pah Pin Shang VW Vento 1.2 TSI😎👍🏻
I have test driven the Honda hybrid and the vento definitely delivers a better drive. The reinforcements of the vento is better appointed compared to the Honda city. Depends how you define safety. In an event of a crash, I would place my bets on vento surviving anytime.
Hello Bobby, do you think the handling of vento 1.6 mpi is same as the vento 1.2?
I'll answer. About the same. But ride is a tad firmer on the TSI version due to larger rims fitted (hence thinner sidewall). Grip is better on TSI version due to much wider tyres (215 vs 185). MPI version is more comfortable and TSI version is better at handling.
Hey, your videos feature in WN Volkswagen Tebrau JB at customer waiting lounge
how is this compared to the local hero, iriz based proton persona?
Asyraff Z. M. Yusoff would love to hear that also... As the Iriz really good in handling but still want to know if comparable to Polo Vento or not.
Proton always had good handling for its price in Malaysia. But weak engine and transmission. And if in global open markets, Proton will definitely be expensive for its low volume of production. And if priced similarly in an open market, the Peugeot 208 Puretech eats both Polo or Proton for performance and handling.
Bobby Ang agreed with you Bobby... Proton should upgrade their engine and gearbox ASAP
Asyraff Z. M. Yusoff I had driven the Persona VVT before. I used to own a Persona Elegance. Now I'm driving the Vento MPI. My take is, the main issue with Persona VVT is the electrical assisted steering wheel, feels too light. The handling in terms of body roll is better than Honda City, but nowhere near as good as the old Elegance. VW Vento has a better corner entry stability and lesser body roll. But mid corner onwards, Persona Elegance is much better.
Another major gripe with the Persona VVT is the Punch CVT, especially when you need to move away from a static position. Don't floor it because it will jerk.
Asyraff Z. M. Yusoff my frenz Iriz locked the steering while reversed 😰
I was looking at the Vento, but VW's salesman aren't exactly proactive when I asked if they have a solution to me selling my Picanto which had RV less than loan settlement value. This was during their crazy discount promo.
My Renault salesman was smarter, which meant I got a Fluence, which is a bigger car!
tiadaid vw salemen suck !! always reply lambat the fuck with them , masuk showrom pdg atas bawah
you got the point bro
Lovely review, get ur point n agree with you bobby. City does not feel stable compare to this VW group handle very very well on high speed. No doubt even 1.2 TSI is way more powerfull than City n Vios.
Luqman Johary VW polo 1.2tsi r-line... Is a fast car.. and ... Stable... He can do 180 km...or 185.... Trust me I know....some people say it can even 195km.... Don't even say about vento and golf😁 you know what I mean.....
Driving this 1.2 vento for one year and decided to swap the tyres to PS4 few months ago. The stock tyres was quite harsh and noisy for me.of course the conti feel is nothing to shout if u compare it with other germans (audi, bmw, merc) but with the price honestly an awesome ride with the ps4..DSG is much more smoother than previous generations and it is still now. I have tested the previous dq200 and there were not smooth as the latest gen. Hope vw has put those dsg issues in the past.
hi saad. really have different from previous gen? but as i informed by sa vw n websites, it is still the same 7speed dry clutch? vw did anythin? hard evidence is any?
On highway which one have better perfomance..this vento or subaru xv?
I think VW is getting better and reliable now right? Coz rarely heard about the dsg problem anymore
I do agree, no prob at all on my 2012 Polo GTI till now..😎😇
@@mahmaw7 buy new one or 2nd hand boss the vw polo
Fadzly Faddal am the 2nd owner, yet VW done great to uphold their standard, people scared becoz of perceptions, CBU way better than CKD or even the 2018 Perodua Myvi in terms of imported interior quality, peace of mind & appreciate it much😎 Poison Ivy..😅
@@mahmaw7 POLO NO ISSUE, the issue is with jetta CBU, thats what i heard, they got statistic for that
Dear Bobby, help me, Mazda2 or Vento 1.2. Tq.
Both great handling. Mazda interior quality higher. Vento more powaaaaaahhh
I'm own vento 1.2 since 2016 & own a vios 2011.
For me Vento is more fun to drive..powerful & more stable in highspeed. full tank can run 900km.
Terbaek
Rossi Fumi 900km ru sure?
Hon Yoong Liong full highway cruise shouldn't be impossible
any issue major since owning rossi?
No any issues... Fuel up & lenjan
I actually went for a test drive eg. 1.2 Tsi, Impressed! Now kept thinking of sell off my beloved City for this Champ!
Are you sure the Vento 1.2 TSI can match a BMW 328i in Ulu Yam drive? The 328i has twice the max torque.
Not match, cos not everyone go all out during these roads.
Any review for Jetta...????
Bobby, why don't you make a preview for Proton Suprima S ? It's a different experience to compare with Preve.
Hakim Malek maybe because it's a Proton? Hmm 😢
don't judge unless u drove one.
Proton suprima a great car too..great handling and turbo feel as early as 2k rpm
@@snakensnook8637 the turbo of suprima s is so trash
VW polo 1.2tsi r-line... Is a fast car.. and ... Stable... He can do 180 km...or 185.... Trust me I know....some people say it can even 195km.... Don't even say about vento and golf😁 you know what I mean.....
goood revieww
Can you please review Renault Fluence?
How about compare to peugeot 206 1.2 pure tech ?
power farm I believe u want to mention Peugeot 208 1.2 Puretech, not 206
Bobby, which car I should go for in a b-segment model. Vento 1.2, vios, city or Almera ?
Suriya Kumar if you don't mind the RV, get the Vento. If you want to play safe, get the City. Not the Vios or Almera
tiadaid if you're me.. your choice between vento n city?
go have a drive bro. anyways, i drove the city spec v. at 160-170, my balls shrunked..
Out of all B segments, two are obviously king of practicality - Vios/City. The other four handles really well: Polo/Vento, Mazda 2, Fiesta, Peugeot 208. Out of these four with great handling, only Mazda has a reputable after sales service. If it's upmarket premium design, only Mazda 2 and Peugeot 208 looks beautiful and upmarket. Vento and Peugeot 208 has the power to outgun cars a class above, while Mazda 2 and Fiesta would be the handling kings. Fiesta has an interior that's perhaps one level below Protons even.
At the end, if you want a sedan:
handling and power: Vento
practicality: City
If you want hatchbacks:
handling and power: Polo/208
practicality: Jazz
Aftersales service: Vios / Mazda 2
You don't mind reliability, aftersales, RV just want driving enjoyment:
1. Peugeot 208
2. Volkswagen Polo/Vento
3. Fiesta
4. Mazda
Bobby Ang what will be your top preference in buying a b segment sedan.. handling/Power or practicality ? Then i will know what car I should go for
How about the Mazda 2 vs vento ? If want to buy choose with 1 better ?
Different category. Hatchback and sedan.
How b different , take Mazda 2 sedan vs vento OK that 2 all so sedan
U said Mazda 2 first, not Mazda 2 Sedan. If sedan one then can compare but ur Q is way general. Better in terms of what?
im a happy jetta GP owner.. 😁😁
I have the 1.5 TDI DSG version and its performance in high way is just super stable at high speeds and has more control than a honda or a ford
Bro did u find any issues with DSG .. i am planning to buy Vento DSG TDI Highline plus
Hi Bobby. I test drove this car before and I totally agree this car is way better handling than a vios and on paper this car power is not that impressive but the power is so immediate and bobby please refresh review Jetta as well.
terry kuan agree.jetta facelift review please!
Me too, I want a review of a Jetta.
Please do the Jetta facelift review Bobby!
Review jetta please
Yeah. How does Jetta compare?
Hope Proton will make budget sport cars..
bobby, review jetta please
Sold.
How is this compared to the new vios G spec 2019?
I havent driven it but specs alone already makes this loose very far ... immediately felt like previous gen car
@@BobbyAngmalaysia Ahh okay could you please drive it and let us know then and also in terms of driving pleasure and all which would be better?
so between this and the 2020 vios vs the city....
dilemma kita sama 😂 maintenance vw buat fikir byk kali nk angkat vento ni
i thought u will test the DSG
Rich man's Saga
Really want to hear this kind of comment for malaysia subaru xv..this way more confident review compare to 'taiwan' subaru xv review.
Anyone used 1.2 tsi for grab car?
Hi Bobby, how is the Honda City Hybrid compared to the VW Vento in terms of driving? Since Honda claimed it is a sport hybrid.
The Sport Hybrid is faster when it has enough charge. Handling still VW superior la.
What about driving refinement and NVH?
VW still. Test driven both. City got better at NVH compared to past City but still short behind Vento in impression. Tho I have to add, City's electric drive is nice and silent but only lasts for one or two kms before the engine spring to life.
Thats the reason people buy VW
Was racing the new Hyundai Verna petrol with 120ish bhp in this. Honestly, didn’t realize I was doing 180kmph till I looked at the odo. It is that stable! And the sound of turbo spooling is so so sweet! That Verna guy will never race a TSI ever again.
I’m quietly getting a Jetta Highline from Wearnes SG Besi, preown unit, for less than 90k 2018 with 7 to 8k km in it, don’t know whether it’s a wise move, intend to sell off my 2013 prius 1.8 but car dealers gave me way too low price and I think I’ll end up having two cars, one is dull and the other is ...
Fun!
Same seating position problem for new saga, worse still there's no telescopic steering wheel
Mazda 2 review bro?
review jetta pleaseee
Dave agree!
vento vs city hybrid? in terms of performance and driving
Bobby ady answered. Vento better. That's the only thing its better than City Hybrid, though.
i thought he only compare with regular city, not the hybrid
Bobby can you review Camry hybrid?
Surprisingly fast for a Camry. Handling is pretty good too, for a Camry. Plus all the good points thats already there (comfortable, spacious etc).
Malaysia here Finland there lol
Btw, dont think we dont kno, u actually removed this video n uploaded again 😁
